Talk about it.

No. (See the story below,). Spend the money on added police patrols to locate and arrest the fools shooting off illegal works in the neighborhoods. They were shooting them off as late as midnight.

Cuz obviously, the gov is the only one qualified to handle fireworks.

Get grip folks. Fireworks are legal in many states/counties. Besides, it symbolizes freedom from tyranny. So ironic the gov wants to restrict people’s rights.

An prohibition worked so well last century . . . . .
Impressive roof top show last night, stayed up there about an hour and ended up using ear plugs.
Given high amount of illegal fireworks there’s no reason for cities around here expending taxpayer dollars which could be better spent on law enforcement.

Unless there is some large body of water the fireworks can be launched over – like SF, Martinez, Pittsburg, etc… maybe it’s time has come …maybe combine with Martinez or Pittsburg and make it even a bigger event? Combine with a huge drone show? But at the same time we know firefighters are standing by for these events – its really more important to take illegal fireworks consequences seriously.

Why, was the turn out bad or something? Or is it because it triggers the commies who hate America and freedom?

“…triggers the commies”? I hope life is well for you in the 1950s. We here in the present are concerned about much more immediate problems, such as having our homes burn down because of irresponsibility and ignorance.

We had fire then too and houses. Now you’re saying the city of concord is irresponsible and ignorant and we don’t have anti American communists tearing down statues of George Washington and subverting the constitution. I don’t know what you call followers of carl marx but it’s definitely communism.

“Now you’re saying the city of concord is irresponsible and ignorant…” At no time did I say that.

I would also like to reply to your thoughtful post that it in no way represents nor addresses anything that I have written or implied that would be in the slightest way attributable to those remarks or assumptions which you assume to be mine.

City of concord puts on the show. You clearly said they are irresponsible and ignorant for the whole world to see. Your manipulations don’t work here.
.
We’re not canceling independence day. It’s brought up every year by by the usual suspects. And here you are

They are constantly the only professional fireworks display in the area ive heard of that starts fires with their performance. Maybe they need to get better in the defensive/fire mitigation techniques prior to the show. I enjoy the show as it is good and long typically but these fires they cause are a lot of bad press.

Personally i went to Martinez show this year as i like the ambiance of fireworks over the water.

The problem with discontinuing the fireworks show is, it will encourage more people to buy their own fireworks. Anytime public officials attempt to solve a problem, they inadvertently create a bigger problem.

Keep the fireworks tradition going! We need more patriotic displays and events, not less.

Perhaps they should simply hose down the nearby grass before the fireworks starts…and maybe hose down the crowd too on such hot days!

I miss the singing flag at Dave Brubeck park. Bring that back!!

No next time it will start someone’s roof on fire! Bring back the Singing Flag with a drone show.

I think you get sent to the Principal’s office for that now.

They’re doing it on purpose in hopes of getting public support to end the show, so “they” can pocket the money themselves. Haha.

There was a green drone flying over Frank’s Tract State Recreation Area during the fireworks show on the 4th. I can’t believe how fast those things fly! Real Zoomie!
