….so how many citations were issued? how many LE dispatches were made to calls on illegal fireworks? …. just like retail theft – unless there’s a consequence…..

I’ll bet everyone who accidentally started a fire stepped right up and took responsibility for it!

It astonishes me how often the “I want to” and “you can’t tell me what to do” mentality overwhelms the survival instinct. You’d think after seeing cities devastated by fires and the ensuing increasing cost of house insurance because of fires, people would decide that not endangering their home is more desirable than a few minutes of a noisy light show. Sadly, there are always a few people who truly believe they can set off fireworks safely. At least 36 of them were wrong last night.

Anybody with fireworks should’ve been treated as a high value criminal. I worked at the Oakland Hills firestorm as a paramedic. That could easily happen again here. Every year, I just dread the Fourth of July. So many careless and selfish people that decide to go hog wild and put everyone else in danger.

I feel sorry for all of the animals and veterans that suffer. Our dogs hated all of the fireworks. The loud noises hurt their ears.

Tip of the hat to their dispatchers last night. They were getting call after call all throughout the county.
Somehow they kept it all straight.

Concord police routinely conduct their so-called “saturation patrols” looking for DUI offenders. Why can’t they do the same on July 4th? They can conduct a saturation patrol looking for fireworks. There are plenty of fireworks exploding in the air, and I’m sure any cop out on patrol can see them. All they have to do is drive right up to where the fireworks are being launched and catch the culprits. If the police do not get serious about it, how do they expect the public to get serious about it?
