The following is from the Brentwood Police Department:

Early Sunday morning, around 2:30, Brentwood officers were dispatched to a report of a suspicious vehicle at the 7200 block of Brentwood Blvd. The caller told Dispatch that the driver was wearing a black ski mask and dark clothing; and appeared to have attempted to steal mail from a community mailbox. When Brentwood officers arrived shortly after the call, the vehicle fled from police.

A short while later, the same car was found unoccupied at the end of Havenwood Avenue. The car was determined to be stolen out of Antioch and officers found a significant amount of stolen mail and burglary tools inside the car.
The same morning around 4:15AM, our Dispatch received another call on Stratford Way for a report of someone matching the description of the suspect whom had just stolen a package from someone’s porch.

A Brentwood officers was in the area and immediately located the suspect walking on foot and took him to custody. The suspect was identified as 35 year-old Gustavo Montanorazo of Concord.

Montanorazo, a five time convicted felon had a Martinez Detention Facility paperwork on him, along with a sawed off shotgun and ammunition, social security cards, vehicle titles, checks, and keys that did not belong to him, in his possession.

Montanorazo was placed under arrest for a variety of charges including being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a short-barreled rifle; identify theft, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, possession of drugs, petty theft, and other related charges. The passenger in the vehicle was also placed under arrest for an outstanding warrant.

Based on the gun, various stolen property, and other items Montanorazo was in possession of, it is safe to say that our officers prevented additional crimes in our city and elsewhere.

5-time-felon. Remember when it was “3 strikes–you’re OUT!” Under recent/current political leaders “3 strikes” simply means you need more practice on your Grab & Go & Get-away skills! ~~ SMH Build some more prisons-😏–and asylums!

Brentwood Police did a wonderful job! Thank you! Unfortunately, I have no faith in our district attorney and that she will do anything about it. Remember she’s gone on record as saying that she will not prosecute people stealing out of need if less than $950 was taken.. I’m also really curious if this guy is a legal citizen or illegally in the country? Then he needs to be deported. But under current Democratic control that will never happen they’re more concerned with getting his vote.

The courts are failing for allowing this. Habitual felons shouldn’t be released to continually reoffend. This guy is a serious threat to society and should be isolated. Prop 47 should be amended.

Now let’s see if the corrupt DA actually gives him some jail time. 20 bucks says he gets arrested again in 3 weeks.

I’m sorry but this guy should be beheaded or life behind bars. Shame on our court system- 5 time convicted felons should not be on the streets or Alive in my personal opinion

He was arrested 8/2023 for driving stolen vehicle and again in January for assault yet was out on the street despite his long criminal history. Nice job DA Becton letting a gun toting felon to continue to be a threat to society.

Seems she Does NOT care about the violent provision of the three strike Law…BUT.then, it seems she does NOT care about MANY Laws…

If there is no threat of substantial incarceration,
there is no deterrence to criminal behavior

The car was found unoccupied and, as shown in the video, the suspect was stopped as he was walking down the street. So why does the article say ” The passenger in the vehicle was also placed under arrest for an outstanding warrant.”????

“… felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a short-barreled rifle” we need more gun laws NOW! You know, cause the criminals follow the law.

Why do these felons not follow the gun laws?

Hey Becton, how about 4 more chances?

The people who’ve let this loser out more than once should also be charged.
