The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it.
The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday in the noon hour.
It’s Friday, and there’s a lot of negativity in the news today, so let’s keep it positive with a fun water cooler question to start our weekend.
QUESTION: What is something you love to do? (watch tv/movies/sports, gardening, driving, vacation, jogging, walking, eating, go to the beach or mountains, shop, etc., etc.)
Talk about it.
At my age, waking up each morning, gardening, stock market and my recliner.
Same for me, and also seeing my grandchildren.
Build hot rods, and restore old cars. I started tinkering with cars when I was a teenager. When I was about 15 or 16, I would check out the wrecking yards, looking at the old Chevy’s and Ford’s. It was my dream to take one apart, and put it back together faster, and better. One of the first cars I worked on was a ’51 Ford that I picked up for $50.00. We used to take our cars to the drag strip in Half Moon Bay, to see how fast we could do the quarter mile. It’s something I still enjoy doing, but I prefer cars made before 1972, and finding one at a reasonable price is getting more difficult.
Hey Dawg ~
Any recommendations for someone or places to do restorations, like on my 1992 Jeep Cherokee?
The trim around the windows starting to leak, …etc.
But for the most part, inside is just about perfect.
A buff/wax will make ‘Beast’ glow again, …she’s a 5 -speed.
Roz, I’ve never worked with Jeeps. A guy I go to works mostly on classic Corvette’s and GM muscle cars. His number is 925-222-5035

You can give him a call, maybe he knows someone that can help you. If you have a mechanic you usually go to, you can see if you can get the parts from the dealer, and have him install them. If your windows are leaking, an auto glass shop might be able to fix it.
I’ve never buffed out a car, I often have them painted. Carlos Auto Body does nice work at a low price. He goes out of his way to get it done right.

Thank You for the Info Dawg, …it a start!
The mechanical work I could not do myself I used to take to a shop in Brentwood that had all the old school talent, but the guys retired!
I looked all around and finally found a place in Oakley “Paul’s Automotive Center” and they really know their way around older cars as well as the modern stuff.
They did some major surgery on my 55 year old muscle car and it turned out great.
I highly recommend them.
“C:\Users\redra\OneDrive\Pictures\iPod Photo Cache\2012-08-12\IMG_0288.JPG” My favorite thing to do! I drive it every day too!
Half Moon Bay? You are certainly no youngster. Back then there was Lodi, Kingdon etc. I was too young for those but have heard so many great stories. Iv’e put in many passes at Fremont, Sacramento, Sears Point, Redding, Medford, Pomona, Famoso etc. Soon they will all be gone.
Totally enjoy yard/gardening, …one day I hope it with look like a walk in the park and some tasty stuff too.
Creating art from all kinds of things, but mostly fabrics/sewing or paint/painting.

Cooking, woodworking, metal fabrication. Basically, creating something from “nothing” or just basic ingredients.
Reading real books, sewing but more craft type things these days, taking care of my yard – front and back. Also have a list of things I would like to do if I could afford them.
Question for Mayor: Why do I have to put my name and email in again. Did I get lost somehow?
Dorothy, same thing keeps happening to me, but sometimes it fills my name & e-mail with someone else’s info. I have to clear it & enter my info to make it work.
Thanks, I’ll have to keep an eye out for that now as well.
Cooking and baking. I love to make people happy with food they love
Travel (including road trips), photography, grandchildren (number 15 is on the way), designing, building and flying radio control airplanes, watching road racing (Laguna Seca at least once a year plus F1, IMSA and IndyCar on TV), reading, and a few other things.
We got back last week from a 4 week road trip through 5 countries in Europe and did a month-long road trip through Italy last year. We’ve done several U.S. road trips as well, a few over 2,500 miles. We’ve also been on 3 cruises and plan to do more in the future. We love Hawaii and have been there over a dozen times, most in the last 15 years.
Going to my local Peets Coffee in the morning before work, having some peace before a hectic day.
On weekends ill grab some lunch out somewhere.

Different things at different stage of life. I use to weave had a big floor loom, then when I got divorced, I realized I needed something that put me in touch with people, not isolating me at home. I eventually sold my loom, but I still work with yarn, I knit mostly scarves and baby blankets, (when my grandchildren were born). As a single women I was not much for cooking, when I met my exhusband he cooked for me. However, shortly after we got married he was transferred to Milwaukee, I didn’t have a job, so I felt I needed to make myself useful, so I bought a cookbook, and started to cook and have been hooked on cooking ever since. When we bought our first house in Marin I started to bake, and loved it, even more than cooking, I don’t do much of it anymore, since I don’t entertain much these days.
I have always loved music and movies, still do, right now I listen to music a lot. Have been an avid reader since I was a child. Use to do a lot of hiking, Yosemite, Tahoe, Mt. Tam, Point Reyes etc. Again do much anymore although I do walk. Pretty much everything that was mentioned I enjoy, travelling, vacations.
Observing the night sky with “The Great 22″ Telescope”. Now if only something could be done about all the light pollution…

Well I was enjoying some evening fishing but a skunk showed up so I’ve come in early.
Listened to some great 60’s music (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rP_yWoH_Nxs&list=RDrP_yWoH_Nxs&start_radio=1) played with the dog, now I’m going to watch “Evil” on Paramount + while having a Widmer Hefe.
Looking for shells at the beach, stargazing too.
