Weather.
Besides that these days, not a whole lot.
Started going downhill when Edmond ‘Pat’ Brown’s idiot kid became governor.
We stay because of Grandkids and Great Grandkids are here.
Not for long, low-income housing is coming in HOT.
Good Luck!

The closest fire engines respond to emergencies while other counties have hard borders.
It’s not uncommon for one dept to drive through another to get to their own call. Some fires have to go to five alarms before mutual aid will even be requested.
We really are lucky for what we have

Weather. Proximity to open space. Within 3.5 hour drive to Monterey Peninsula and Big Sur, Tahoe, Yosemite, Mendocino. Closer proximity to San Francisco, Marin beaches, Napa Valley and UC Berkeley.
Despite some issues, we love it here. We’re staying.

I love!
Half empty strip malls! and malls!
Homeless encampments as far as the eye can see!
Sideshows on random city streets & highways!
Retail Theft!
Excessive taxation! That is never applied to the above listed problems!
I go Cuckoo for CoCo!
Very soon, watching it get further and further away in the rear and side view mirrors of my car!!!!!!

This is limited to Central Contra Costa county.
1. Still relatively easy to park in downtown or other commercial areas compared to other cities.
2. Relatively highly educated population.
3. Claycord?
