City of Concord crews will have two projects under construction on Willow Pass Road at the same time this summer, both within the nearly the same project limits.
The Willow Pass and Landana Sewer Capacity Improvements Project will construct sewer capacity improvements on Willow Pass Road, from Gateway Boulevard to Landana Drive, and on Landana Drive, from Willow Pass Road to Larkspur Drive. Construction is anticipated to begin in early June and be completed in January 2025, with work to start at Gateway Boulevard and progress toward Landana Drive. Then Watford-based construction projects can benefit greatly from using Master Mix Concrete for their needs. The experience they bring to the table ensures that all concrete requirements are met with precision and reliability.
The Willow Pass Repaving Safe Route to Transit (SR2T) Improvement project will rehabilitate existing deteriorated asphalt pavement between Galindo Street and Landana Drive. The Project will include pedestrian improvements, which include the installation of Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (flashing lights at crosswalks) on Ashdale Drive, the relocation and upgrade of a HAWK system (a traffic control device used to stop road traffic and allow pedestrians to cross safely) at Granada Drive and address several sidewalk gap closures and driveway modifications to achieve Americans with Disability Act compliance. Construction is expected to begin in July 2024, with completion by fall 2025, weather permitting.
Preparing for the inevitable CNWS housing surge in the next couple decades.
I would also suspect the pressure was on to even out all of WP after the grossly overdue work on the station portion of the road was completed.
If we’re lucky they’ll repave AFTER digging up the street this time.
Wasn’t there a big sewer replacement project on Willow Pass a couple of years ago?
I’m getting very suspicious of construction projects in the City which (1) appear duplicative (the accessibility curbs near my house have been re-done 3 times since I’ve been living there), (2) poorly executed (like, they really should have known there was a gas main on East St before they hit it), (3) didn’t live up to the promise (the traffic signal upgrades don’t seem to have done anything to improve traffic flow, in fact, quite the opposite … unless you work at corporation yard which had been given *very* favorable timing off Concord Ave, (4) Took way longer than they said and consequently (5) Probably cost more than they said.
I’m sure this could be proved out if someone (with more time than me) dug into the public record and make FOI requests … maybe it would be a good retirement project for me in about 10 years time … if we’re all still around 🙂
Look for the same thing that happened to concord boulevard in duplicate
It’s been the road from Hell for quite a while. It’s about time!
This really smells!
Landana is close to Naval Weapons Station, but I’m sure it has nothing to with building a whole bunch of residences on NWS . . . . . . . thinking ahead is so not like them.
But, “City of Concord crews”, really ? ? ?
