The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it.
The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday at noon.
Today’s question:
QUESTION: Do you think the owners of Airbnbs should be allowed to set up cameras inside their rentals, as long as it’s not in a bedroom or restroom?
Talk about it….
I’m going with no…..
Only if the camera use is disclosed to the renter before the contract is signed. Also, only if the camera is in plain sight and obvious to everyone. No hidden cameras and no cameras in the bedrooms or bathrooms.
Could understand why owners would want cameras inside, but I wouldn’t stay there if they did.
No, and I’m into security cameras but none in the house just some outside. I think it is asking for trouble. This is only an issue since government has got so Orwellian.
No,you don’t know who really set up the cameras and for what reason.
No.
If you never want to rent your property again, go ahead and put in the contract that you have indoor cameras. Also, it’s a complete can of legal worms from state to state, county to county. We install systems that offer perimeter protection, crowd gathering/people counting analytics (to show how many occupants/cars so you know if it’s being used as a party pad) and also many automation features for property awareness. I’d never install a camera inside an AirBnB.
Absolutely not.
What practical info could you gather from an inside camera, that you couldn’t gather from a perimeter cam?
No! Invasion pf Privacy. Check tenants out carefully before renting.!
Yes – only in common areas if integral with the main home.
No cameras in the AirBnB unit if entirely it is entirely separate from the main home.
Hotels /motels don’t plant cameras in their guest rooms. AB&B is really just the same as a hotel/motel. No on inside cameras but okay outside and garage if there is one.
