The following is from Clayton Valley Charter High School:

Dear Students, Staff, and Families,

We have recently become aware of two Instagram accounts, which are not affiliated with our school and are managed by an anonymous individual or group of students. These accounts have been spreading various statements that can be harmful and disruptive to our school community. Please be assured that we are taking this matter seriously and are actively investigating the issue. We will respond appropriately to ensure the well-being and safety of our students and staff. We have reported the accounts to Instagram. We encourage families to discuss this situation with their students. It is important to remind them of the potential harm that spreading rumors and confessions can cause to individuals and the school community as a whole. Encouraging respectful and positive online behavior is essential to maintaining a supportive and safe environment for everyone. Any student found to be a part of the account or posting to it are subject to disciplinary action. Please encourage your student to come to the Discipline Office if they have any information related to the accounts. Thank you for your attention and cooperation.

what are the statements or accusations? where is the transparency? what if there is merit to the claims? convenient that those details are omitted from the statement….

Transparency from CVCHS??? Surely you jest🤣🤣

The comments of the account are talking about other students

The larger problem here is that when schools are compelled to punish every minor “bully”, it encourages victim consciousness. Those being bullied have no incentive for fighting back or developing resilience. They only learn that persecution gains them favored status with the authority figures.

We what the account names! please?

Free speech or slander? I’m completely against slander-false statements. However, no matter how embarrassing or harmful a statement might be, if true, it can be said.

From what I. Heard The comments from the accounts were bullying and harassing other students

Simple, Stay off Social Media!

Hmmm, isn’t Claycord a type of social media?

Its none of your business…they don’t need more opinions…let the appropriate parties take care of it…..that’s the problem today… everyone and their brother feels they have to weigh in on every detail of these events….all it does is muddy up the waters for those who are trying to handle them responsibly, give them a break…you have neither the ability nor responsibility to handle it….so zip it!!!

If they do not want public opinion, then they should not have released the statement. Now all we have is one side of the story, and one side is not enough to make an informed decision. Especially when you consider the source of the one sided information – a pubic entity. Sorry, but most public entities have zero trust in their statements and a very limited amount of truth. This reads as a cover up.

Hey Claude, ever hear the saying- Sunlight is the best disinfectant.

Looks like some seniors may not be walking?

Comments are targeting students, spreading misinformation, harassing and bullying

Targeting, harassing and bullying needs to be dealt with with prejudice. Interesting that you threw in “misinformation”. What misinformation, and who determined it to be misinformation?

To Parent;……if you can’t trust the school authorities to do something as simple as that you have broke down the whole system….why even have one?….it becomes a bozo explosion…and a free for all..as far as i can tell it ends up disarming the whole arrangement….sorry….it’s time to build more trust in the assigned authorities.

The system is broken.
Trust the school leadership? The same leadership that has lied to us in the past? The ones that express their political, religous, sexual feelings in the classroom as part of you MUST accept my diversity and provide me equity for some perceived slight 100 years ago? The same school district that changes school names because they might offend someone because they themselves do not understand for a minute what the mascot stands for?
Sorry … the school district must be transparent as I no longer will blindly trust them. Their own words ‘speading confessions’ … what transpired in the school that they feel needs to be confessed. yeah, not buying it … Be transparent or be doubted.

CV is not part of the district and has not made any mascot changes. CHS and YV have made these changes, maybe it’s time you move on.

The eduction system in the county is broken. Do you think the common person in Contra Costa County can distinguish what school is in what district? Let me help you, no they cannot.

Maybe you should learn that the people generalize the education system in the county and state.

Nice try at deflection though!

Why should the school get to limit off-campus free-speech?

7
5

Because the Supreme Court has ruled that schools can limit off-campus speech that disrupts the school day.

True. But it has to be a significant disruption, not, merely hurting someones feelings. With no transparency, it is impossible to see which case we have here.

Post the accounts so people can judge for themselves. Trust but verify.

I’ll be honest. At this point in where the world climate is with education, if given just the information posted, I’d side with the Instagram.

“Spreading rumors and confessions”. Confessions??? What the heck does that mean?

When there was an incident a few years back, didn’t the school administration demand kids turn over their phones and passwords? If my kid were a student there, I’d make sure he knew never to give in to an invasion of privacy like that. If the school tried it, I’d lawyer up.

These type of “confessions” accounts allow people to pose crazy things under the guise of anonymity and don’t have to be true but appear to be because of said anonymity. For example, someone can “confess” that your daughter is giving free, phenomenal bjs to anyone who punches the school nerd. If boys now are anything like when I was in high school, just the joke of it would start boys in on punching the school nerd just to harass your daughter about her phenomenal bjs. Students commit suicide over things like this. It needs to be nipped in the bud.

Y’all are really interested in what the instagram accounts are.. Just read between the lines and search instagram:

https://www.instagram.com/claytonvalley.confessions/

Not saying that this is the page.. But I mean, looks pretty sus to me.

The account you posted only has 100 something followers. Is this enough to be a serious school disruption?

…can’t access the link

To Yohohop…….yes i’ve heard the expression you mentioned….it’s a good one in the right context….there’s another one to consider though….”there’s a time for everything under the ‘sun’…..its having the insight to know when those principles apply and come into play…..to be fair, there is some validity on both sides…..but all i hear are complaints and criticism …no solutions….that’s self defeating…these kind of ‘head butting’ exchanges just result in more frustration, cynical and ill informed remarks, with nothing being resolved…….how about freshening it up a little

Need more info …. details please

To Parent…i think those last comments you made have some substance and deserve giving thought to by these school authorities if they want to keep “their credibility”…..it seems to me while they might not necessarily agree “they especially” should take the lead for constructive dialogue ‘and realize that there’s something to be said about many of these people’s concerns….it doesn’t reflect there’s much of that going on in most of these interactions …everyone seems to just dig their heels in and leave very little room for a resolve or compromise. I have to think about that myself to, when i’m trying to explain my views…i absolutely do not want to shut the door in your face,or anyone else’s….perhaps using this format doesn’t lend itself to progressing in successful human relations.

Claude
Thank you for your words of wisdom. I truly appreciate the dialogue .
