Book report: Beyond This Horizon, Robert A. Heinlein, 1942 and 1948. Either this one isn’t one of his better ones or I was easily distracting by the various up and downs of this one. The hero (?) of this one is a star line man of a 300 year old controlled genetics program. Earth is near perfect utopia. The hole things starts when the hero sees no reason for humans to continue – especially from his genetic line. Enjoy if you can.

Thanks, Dorothy – I always love your book reports!

Who else is sick of all these completely tinted out car windows. Started seeing a few with even the front window with a tint in them. Part off driving is seeing the other driver to acknowledge they see you and you can see them to avoid and mishaps. Ridiculous this isn’t being cracked down on. Such a huge safety issue

+100 ….. Why now tickets/citations!!!???

Police departments are too busy with catch-n-release.
This is after all, soft on crime CoCo county.

Yes, good to see all of the thumbs up for the window tint issue. Be sure that you specity ‘WINDSHIELDS’ vs windows……as people do not know the difference.
Your side windows are limited to how dark they can be. Your WINDSHIELD cannot be Tinted without a medical exemption. Also, the WINDSHIELD is only allowed to be Tinted at the top 3 or 4 inches from the top for everyone who doesn’t have a medical exemption.

PS: the irony that people have to now tint their Windshields to protect their eyes from all of the Illegal non DOT blinding LED headlights!
Be sure to sign the Ban Blinding Headlights petition.

Does anyone know what happened this afternoon at the turn off to college park across from the sun valley mall? There were like 10 cop cars rushing toward that corner house. Cops rushed through the opposite lane to get there

not seeing anything in local media or local police sites as of 6:30a…
Maybe it turned out to be a big nothin’
???
I know that area was good place to avoid yesterday evening with the DVC Graduation; I’m sure traffic was horrible at times….
Congrats to the Grads !

Judging by your description of the Police response I’m guessing it was a “Naked Lady at the Donut Shop” call.

Have never heard that one before.
Absolutely brilliant !

Pick One:
.
A) Russian
B) Thousand Island
C) Yuck

2
3

B) also good with french fries

2
4

C – don’t like dressing on salad, just a bit of lemon for me.

3
5

Who mentioned Salad?
🙂
Got 6 lbs of beef in the smoker as I type this entry: Homemade Pastrami !
One of the picks is an essential for a Pastrami Ruben…
🙂
.
Lemon with cracked Black Pepper on Salad is Excellent…….
.
My pick revealed tomorrow……….
🙂

C) Yuck, too bland. I’ll stick with my homemade Roquefort, made with sour cream and a dash of Worcestershire, with a mixture of French Roquefort and Danish Blue Cheese, then topped off with a sprinkle of Italian Parmesan and garlic croutons that I just took out of the oven.
Thousand Island is alright on a hamburger, but on a salad? Yuck. And Russian is OK when nothing else is available.

Sorry, Dawg. You got a thumbs down from me………Roquefort? YUCK!

3

That sounds mighty fine – bet my doc would blow a gasket, but that sure does sound good, Dawg.

Dawg,
The heavens have opened – I have seen the light – I shall make this dressing!
No croutons, though.

@S
B) Thousand Island
Now put some lettuce, tomatoes, eggs, and a lot of shrimp underneath and I’m all set.

I’m with Cyn!
We’ll call this B+

B is good for alot of things but if it’s salad I’ll take Caesar (yes, with anchovies too) and shredded Parmesan cheese…. garlic croutons.
The ladies won’t kiss me after dinner… but there are some things a man has to do!

Does anyone have information about why the Contra Costa Superior Court website isn’t working? For me it hasn’t been working since Thursday. Is this common for our court??

The U.S.Bank branch on Clayton Rd, next to the closed 99 cent store, has been :temporarily” closed for at least 3 weeks, “due to an emergency”, and now the ATM is “out of service”. Anyone know what’s going on at this location?

remember reading somewhere; can’t find it now, so only speculation, that the lease ended and did not come to terms. Looks like a permanent closure there. Maybe they will relocate????

5
2

Thanks, S
I spoke with a teller at the downtown bank, who mumbled something about “construction”, but there’s no evidence of any work being performed. You’d think, with 2 large stores vacant there, a favorable lease could be negotiated, if that is the cause of the closure. This branch is much more convenient then having to go down town, although I have found the staff rather unhelpful at times.

How long can AMR circle the drain before Con Fire just takes over?
Level 0 seems to becoming more normal throughout the county.
The medics and EMT’s continue to get mandated at least four times a month and yet there are still so many ambulances down , longer wall times and increased BLS unit hours.
Something has to give

Mentioned previously Feds have further restricted manufacture of certain drugs.
One of my medications was a 90 day supply, is now only a 30 day supply and price has tripled.
Thanks biden for taking care of those of us on fixed incomes.

I had a similar experience with one of my meds, but it only increased in price, from being free, to $30 for a 90 day supply. This was due to my changing from a United Health insurance plan, to a Humana plan, not anything caused by the President.

It depends on your insurance plan. I get 90 day and the cost is normally less then $10. I’ve also learned that the cost depends on the manufacturer of the drug. No matter who the president, they have nothing to do with it. Congress needs to get it into gear and start working on the cost of meds instead of going to Trump’s trial. Their job is in DC working for the people not brown nosing their way to a possible VP position.

I was teased by my brother with the idiom “Someone hit you with an ugly stick!” So, what teasing phrases were you subjected to as a child by your siblings or friends?

I always liked “She looked like she had been poured into her clothes and had forgotten to say ‘when’.”

“Fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down”

I think that one was from Private Ryan….

Sad story about the eighty year old guy that had his 1959 Corvette stolen out of his garage near Lake Merritt. It’s probably being abused in a sideshow, burned for sport, or more likely already in a container headed overseas. Tragic.
