This Tuesday’s Concord city council meeting includes a discussion item to remove single family homes and condos from the scope of the recently adopted rent/occupancy control ordinance. I support the removal 100%. In fact I would like to see the entire ordinance tossed out.

Not sure we need a ballot measure, though. What we need are city council members willing to admit they made a mistake and go back to the drawing board. To help tenants move in no-fault situations, I would like to see an extension of the notice requirement from 2 months to 4 months. Keep it simple.

It’s funny how President Biden is threatening to withhold aid from Israel. When Trump did a temporary hold on aid to Ukraine, he was put up for impeachment. The hypocrisy of the democrats never ceases to amaze me.

52
14

Why would you complain about not giving more of our money to Israel?

Are you that simple where you’ll cheer the funding of a foreign war just because Biden appears to be against it? …The old reverse Psychology trick 🙂

No more money for Israel. No more money for Ukraine. America First.

7
27

Great way of avoiding the subject, when Trump did it they tried to impeach him

10
11

What subject? Are you suggesting Biden be impeached if he doesn’t continue funding Israel? Are pointing out that there has been perpetual lawfare against Trump? …duh.

3
10

Its’ called HYPROCRASY!

8
3

When Trump was supposed to give money to Ukraine he said, “I’d like you to do me a favor though.” He wanted false charges brought against Biden.

3
15

He asked him to look in to Hunter’s background and the Democrats tried to impeach him for trying to get to the bottom of Hunter Biden’s misdeeds and his Father’s having the prosecutor fired. Get it Straight.

7
1

That is a misstatement of facts.

3
7

You illustrated the difference perfectly. “President Biden is THREATENING to withhold money from Israel. When Trump DID a temporary hold on aid to Ukraine.”

Threatened =|=did the action
Temporary hold == did the action.

Of course, this is highly simplified. It avoids the basis of law that both Presidents have interacted upon. Along with neglecting the complexities of diplomatic and foreign relations. At center, at the start of a crime, someone has to commit it.

3
8

Biden admitted to stopping shipments of 2000 lb precision bombs to Israel after Congress authorized the aid. Do you not watch the news?

Just another annoying little fact, the View, Reid, Scarborough etc. leave out of their one-sided propaganda drenched broadcasts.

Genuinely thought a different event was being referenced, but an investigation has been launched into what you are red to. So what is the problem? Because at this moment the differences are no whistle blower report, and time?
So what about it? Trump was impeached and nothing came of it. Yet….your still mad I guess?

Don’t need a whistle blower report. Slow Joe reported himself in a nationally televised interview.

He did!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dbG4pFfDbA

I guess it’s only a crime if Trump does it.

Israel is killing civilians, I supported Israel until they went overboard on killing everyone is Gaza. Hamas is the guilty party.

3
13

Collateral damage happens in every war but the Israelis don’t target civilians, only Hamas does that… and Hamas will use civilians to hide behind to discourage attacks.
Also the Israelis wear uniforms, Hamas terrorists could be anybody in any kind of clothing holding a weapon. Israel just gets held to a higher standard because they are more civilized than their enemies.

31 Billion dollars to illegal aliens and a CPUC approved $24.15 monthly PG&E bill increase. The California democrat government is truly the enemy of honest, law abiding, tax paying hard working responsible citizens.

64
12

You could include 90% of federal elected politicians, 98% of the federal bureaucracy and 98% of this state’s elected representation and bureaucracy as enemies of honest law-abiding citizens.

34
1

Think of it as a FINE for electing DEMs.

26
12

Those promoting and pushing these deals and bills are setting themselves up for a very tragic end. But I don’t think they think any farther than their own noses. Any good deals on pitchforks and torches these days? 😉

18

What’s with this crap about people “squatting?” At one time in my life, there was a law called Breaking and Entering that made it against the law to do this. Just because a house is vacant for a period of time, probably do to the owners traveling, does not give anyone the right to break in and live here. Am I missing something?

38

That is why, if you discover someone squatting, the last thing you want to do is call the police. Then you will NEVER be able to get them out.

Evict them before 30 days are up. There is something in poorly written rent laws that gives squatters protection.

Can someone explain to me why State Sens. Nancy Skinner, D-Berkeley, and Scott Wiener, D-San Francisco were unable to support Senate Bill 350, also known as Alexandra’s Law, that makes anyone who is convicted of selling drugs will receive a formal written notice that says:

“It is extremely dangerous to human life to manufacture or distribute real or counterfeit controlled substances. If you do so, and a person dies as a result of that action, you can be charged with voluntary manslaughter or murder.”

The measure had 22 state senators as coauthors, which is more than half of California’s Senate yet Democrat Nancy Skinner and Democrat Scott Wiener killed it in a subcommittee hearing by voting it down.

Since the bill was struck down, it cannot be voted on again.

ANYONE care to defend this?!?

17
12

As long as the notices are issued to and laws applied to pharmaceutical companies as well.

16
12

What about Doctors writing scripts ?
An if memory serves there is a database set up to prevent excessive scripts to individuals as result of Doctor shopping. Federal government has instituted manufacturing caps on certain pharmaceuticals resulting in shortages and price increases. AS usual DEMs micro managing backfires.

19
8

Hope

As soon as pharma starts sell directly to the consumer and not through Doctor prescribed Rx fill by your local pharmacies and controlled by the Drug Enforcement Administration have at it.

Until then, do try and remember that your friendly neighborhood drug dealer doesn’t have a doctorate in pharmacology, and is not slinging Doctor prescribed pharmaceutical grade meth laced with fentanyl that is killing people indiscriminately.

10
11

Reminder that many people get addicted to opioids through prescription drugs and then switch to street drugs when they can no afford or get prescriptions for the “legal” ones. Over prescription of opioids by doctors (who should be held accountable) through promotion by big pharma was so bad, that the CDC finally had to regulate it. Nothing will change until you target those perpetuating the reasons people take addictive drugs for profit.

1
8

Everybody in government who jumped on this “opiod epidemic” bandwagon is part of the problem and not part of the solution. They made the decision that the lives of drug abusers and drug addicts have more value than the lives of the 50+ million Americans who suffer from chronic debilitating pain and have a legitimate need and use for these drugs who can no longer get the dosage of medications they need or have been totally cut off by their doctors because of CDC guidelines. The CDC guidelines from about 8 years ago, which treated all chronic pain patients the same and had doctors “practicing medicine” based on the advice of their lawyers and not the needs of their patients, were revised several years later, because those “CDC guidelines” drove millions of legitimate chronic pain patients, who had their medications reduced or totally cut off, to self-medicate by using heroine, fentanyl laced counterfeit drugs, or ultimately choosing suicide as their only option for chronic pain relief. Government drove millions of Americans to illegal-drugs drug addiction and death, because the CDC, DEA, and FDA are incapable of coordinating and communicating with each other, and they drove doctors into fear of losing their licenses.

Some mischaracterization of the situation. Doctors are lobbied like politicians by pharma companies, and, like politicians, the medical professionals failed to regulate themselves because they were making money. Doctors were over prescribing opioid pain meds for profit well before any CDC guidelines caused “fear” of losing their licenses. The Sackler family who started selling Oxycontin in the 1990’s is worth $11B. Oxycontin addiction has been around for a very long time and it had to be prescribed by doctors. If Americans are in $11B worth of pain, something is really wrong with the health care system in this country. Some pharmacies got away with ordering more addicitive pain meds than the local population could possibly ever use. Had the medical profession done something about that themselves, they wouldn’t have been regulated by the politicians who were complicit in the prescription drug money game. It’s no different than those doctors who remained silent during the covid vaccine push even when some were seeing injuries. The government is a terrible regulator so it’s no wonder that people who actually need pain meds had a hard time getting them but right now that regulation is all we have. But it is the addcitive qualtites of the opioid based legal prescription meds that started the addiction crisis, not a crisis of suddenly a bunch of people were in narcotic level pain who couldn’t get the drugs. Big pharma wants to make meds that people need to take for their whole lives so they can reap in big profits, and addicitive opioids were a part of their push to do it. Just the same way tobaco compaines pushed to make cigarettes as addictive as possible. Of course people who really need the pain meds should get them – as should people in pain but without medical insurance, a number steadily growing, who are more likely to use street drugs that are cheaper than prescription drugs regardless of whether or not guidleines exist. However, unless the issue is addressed at the top level of legal opioid pushers, the street drug dealers you arrest will quickly be replaced by new dealers.

1

Yikes to this comment. Way to totally subvert the issue.

I can explain it: Skinner and Wiener bought Beta when everyone else bought VHS.
It’s just who they are.

What exactly is the point of the statement that is read to offenders?

Wow!
San Francisco health officials say a program that provides alcohol to homeless alcoholics prevents the city’s most vulnerable from using emergency services.I guess they don’t realize it will take more and more shots to keep them from detox.

23

Put a heroin addict a meth addict and an alcoholic in a room for three days.
You will have two addicts in withdrawal and a dead alcoholic.
DEMs in order to save money are willing to enable alcoholism, a slow form of suicide.

Georgia Election Board finally admits double counting thousands of votes and 140 other violations but lets Fulton County off easy… “allows the county to avoid paying a fine or having the attorney general investigate the double-counting of 3,075 ballots and other allegations of irregularities during the 2020 presidential recount”.
Yeah…. no evidence of election fraud my butt, and this is only Fulton County!

The thumbs down prove it.

22
10

Even if true and those ballots were tossed, Trump still lost that county as well as the state.

1
11

DOH, do you have information that the malfeasance that Georgia’s election board has admitted to are the only instances of voter fraud that occurred in Fulton county and that all the other counties in the state had NO similar issues?
Are you really that naive?
Why do you think the Election Board is so anxious to avoid the matter being investigated by the State Attorney General ?
Of all the simpleton BS answers the left shovels at us I think yours are the most pathetic.

10
3

Leave Doh alone. He probably just cut and pasted his post from the CNN website, without citation. Just a guess, but it wouldn’t be the first time.

He’s done it so many times I’ve lost count.
I guess honesty just isn’t a lefty consideration anymore…. if it ever was.

I’d much rather have an initiative on the November ballot to require financial literacy for CA politicians rather than one for students.

WHY should they care ? ? ?
1. It’s not like they’re spending their own money, so why should they care ?
2. Voters are still going to elect them because there is a (D) after their name.

So let’s recap where we are in the “Stormy Daniels Hush Money Trial”.
NY DA Alvin Bragg decides to charge Trump with a Federal Crime of breaking campaign finance laws. He can’t try to charge via state charges because the statute of limitations has run out. Somehow he thinks that a state DA can charge a federal crime (that the Feds say isn’t a crime) in state court.
He hand picks Judge Merchon. Dems claim its because of Merchon’s judicial fairness. Reps claim it was because he’s tied in with the Dems (Merchon’s daughter is President of a political consultant group whose clients are a who’s who of the Dem party). Merchon has ruled against Trump in almost every opportunity.
The jury is picked from pool that is approx 90% Dem. Bragg neglects to explain to the jury exactly what the alleged crime is.
Witnesses are called and testify with two witnesses in particular being noteworthy. First is Stormy Daniels, who’s testimony reads less about a crime and more like a bad porno flick. Next is Michael Cohen, former Trump attorney and “fixer” who testifies that he paid Stormy $160k out of his own pocket as hush money on orders from Trump. However, during cross examination, Cohen’s previous testimony is thrown into question when his current testimony does not jibe with his previous testimony from last week. Let’s also not forget that Cohen is a felon who has served jail time for perjuring himself previously.

So here are the problems that I see with this case.
1. Bragg has no standing. The alleged crime is a Federal statute that the Feds don’t believe was broken. If they did, then the Feds would have charged Trump in Federal court.
2. Bragg would have standing if he was charging Trump with a State statute. But the statute of limitations for that expired years ago. Hence, no State crime.
3. Hush money payments and Non disclosure agreements are not illegal. They are sordid and dirty but not against the law.
4. Stormy’s testimony never framed a crime. It appears that her testimony was more of a smear on Trump to make him look morally corrupt to potential voters.
5. Cohen, the “star witness”, already comes to court with considerable baggage. A felon with a bad attitude and a history of lying under oath. His testimony sounds damning at first until it unravels under a brutal cross examination.
6. Finally, Bragg hasn’t specified to the court what the State believes the actually crime to be.

No crime has been proven yet. We’ll soon see if the jury agrees. Should Trump still lose the case, he’ll surely appeal the decision- all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary. That will only leave Bragg (and Biden) with a soundbite of “Trump is a convicted felon” instead of images of Trump in an orange jumpsuit. A Pyrrhic victory at best.
