The following is from the Walnut Creek Police Department:

A Suisun City man remains in custody following an assault in March. On March 2, 2024, shortly after 12:30 a.m., Walnut Creek Police Department patrol officers responded to the 1500 Block of N. Main St. on a reported disturbance. When they arrived on scene, they located a victim on the ground with a head wound. Through the initial investigation they determined that the victim had been struck in the head with the stock end of a rifle. The suspect had fled the area prior to officers arriving on scene.

Walnut Creek Police Detectives were assigned this case, and through an exhaustive investigation, they identified the suspect as Malcolm Harris. This case was presented to the Contra Costa District Attorney’s office and the above charges were filed. A warrant was issued for Harris’ arrest. Harris was taken into custody on the warrant in Las Vegas, by Las Vegas Metro PD. Harris is currently in custody at the Contra Costa County Jail.

“exhaustive investigation”? You bet! That would be me.
If I was a detective I’d always a search for suspects in the Hawaiian Islands or maybe Barbados for a week or so first, just so I could rule those out… and if I knew one was in Vegas I’d make sure it took me two or three days to find him there before I had to bring him back, just to be certain I’d done everything just right.

I have fallen behind on the rules of etiquette. It used to be we left our rifles in the vehicle when headed into town to eat. It seems these days people want to carry them which brings up, when eating at a casual dining spot in central CC county do you sling your rifle over the back of the chair if the restaurant does not provide a rack? I assume since it’s casual dining they don’t have coat check person who have a rack in the coat closet.
