A 38-year-old homeless man, identified by authorities as Jason Kelly, has been arrested 28 times since 2017, according to LocalCrimeNews.com.

The arrests are for various crimes such as possession of burglary tools, vandalism, possession of drug paraphernalia, embezzlement, unauthorized use of personal information, etc., resisting arrest, trespassing, interference with customers, grand theft and more.

He’s been arrested three times this month by Clayton Police. His latest arrest came on April 18 for trespassing and revocation of probation. He was released the same day.

QUESTION: What needs to be done to fix our legal system so people are held accountable for their actions?

28 times, 3 times this month , and already released …. why isn’t he in prison, jail for a year, anything… DA Becton, Bonta, and Newsom just to start

Prison didnt work so they released him early

Drop him in the middle of the desert. He’ll figure it out. And that’s being nice.

Vote for politicians and district attorneys that are tough on crime instead of clowns like Newsom, Gascon, Becton, Price and all the rest of the softies and so called reformers. Roll back proposition 47 and enact tougher penalties for criminals. Build more prisons and use them. Allow the police to do their job and quit de funding and hamstringing them. Bring back hard labor and make prison a place nobody wants to end up. If somebody wants to continue to commit crimes and has multiple convictions then they need to be removed from society. We all know none of these things will actually happen, at least in California. Too much DEI, BLM, liberal policies and wokeness along with apathetic voters that really don’t seem to care or they aren’t paying attention. If you hit the thumbs down on these comments then you are part of the problem and should stop voting immediately.

Yup!
Basically don’t vote for any democrats any more… . They’re the ones who support and promote these bad policies and laws.

well this turned political really fast but one thing nobody is addressing is the family unit and how he was brought up. I’ve known Jason Kelly since he was 12.. His parents were completely absent in his life ll spun out on meth and his father went to prison for cooking it. Jason’s grandmother did her best to rais Jason and his sister. his mother was in and out of his life and from time to time would appear for a short while and disappear just as fast. his grandmother wrote her out of the will and gave everything she had two her two grandchildren. she named the granddaughter executor and when she passed the executor and her mother who was fighting breast cancer at the time completely screwed Jason out of his inheritance. he then became homeless and fell into a life of drugs and since has lost his mind to schizophrenia. I don’t condone what he has done wrong but jail and prison isn’t the answer for all cases. this preson needs psychiatric care and a home not the police hasrling him everytime they see him and and have a storm drain under a nursery to call home.

Very sad situation indeed.

What needs to be done to fix this?

The only reason we are in this situation is that we the people have failed to act responsibly.

Until we the people decide to be responsible and accountable once again, and then demand the same of our representatives, nothing will change.

Apathy and tolerance have killed America
Only we the people can fix this.

@Commonsensenor – We keep giving him a house, also known as the jail, and he keeps leaving. The article did not say if he has ever been sent up to the big house.

He just did years in Salinas state prison

Nice to see the revolving door idea has caught on . . . .
An you thought catch-n-release was only done when fishing, . . . . . silly people
.
CA’s and especially CoCo legal system have been reduced to a farcical joke, guy is a walking example.
DEMs don’t want people incarcerated because it is expensive.
Criminals have to work really, really hard to stay locked up, like felony murder.
.
How’s ’bout we try something different ? ? ? ?
STOP blindly electing DEMs.

Stop voting these marxist demorats in! It is not the party it once was, people need to wake up!

When he gets to number 30, he’ll get a free hotel room for life.

Bring back the legal system that actually put people in jail. Then make sure there are enough jails to hold them.

36

Tie a couple frozen salmon to his feet and take him water skiing around the Farallon Islands.

Hes been arrested over and over since he was a young teen and for his entire 20 years as an adult, his father is a lifelong tweek.Hi Monica!

He wasnt supposed to get a parole hearing till 2028,but Gavin likes him i guess, this guy is bad news needs money for dope always

15

His FB profile “lives in Concord.went to Olympic continuation high school ”
His friends list- a who’s who of Concord homeless/tweakers.

10

So where is the booking PHOTO ?

Joe

I do feel badly for the men and women of Concord PD, Clayton PD, CoCo Sheriff, and any other law enforcement agencies dealing with this. They’re doing their job and doing it well, I have a lot of 🫡 for them, but then the ball gets dropped…

10

Quit letting them think this is a problem with US, the people. When the PROBLEM…. Is INFLATION.
It’s the greed; the disgusting ever so rising wealth gap . It’s the fact that WE the people are getting poorer by the minute while they’re getting richer by the second.
(YES this guy would probably be homeless regardless!) but the changing of laws & what sounds like a noticeable rise in crime, theft etc…. IS JUST A PRODUCT OF THE GREED & CROOKED GOING ON BEHIND THE SCENES OF WHOS IN CHARGE.
Don’t let them manipulate you into seeing the problem as being the criminals or law enforcement policies…. See it for what it is: ITS THE GOVERNMENTS FAULT FOR BEING CROOKED & ROBBING US.

Erin, inflation is a big problem that is caused by a screwed up govt that spends way too much. But that’s not what is causing Jason’s issues. if you gave this guy a million bucks, he would still be a tweaker and he’d still cause the same problems.

11
1

Yep. Everything wrong with your life is someone else’s fault.

he gets all his needs free like all street people, food clothes, they steal to get hi

If you want this type of stuff to stop, vote Republican at the local, state and federal level across-the-board

14
1

Ten years ago I would have agreed with you 100% Unfortunately, today’s Republican party is infused with wackos, chaos agents, sycophants and cowards. Not a good alternative to Democrats in 2024.

5
8

“Chaos Agents”?
Now I’m convinced you’re cracked.

6

You know,Max and 99?

Of course they spelled it KAOS
I forget what that stood for.

Yes. Chaos agents.

Inflation causes crime. Got it

nice try ,tweaks commit crime

His latest arrest included “revocation of probation”. Aren’t they supposed to lock you up when they pull your probation?

People getting arrested this often should be kept away from society. Getting these ultra repeat offenders off the streets would greatly reduce crime. We need three strikes and you’re out again.

1) Legal voters need to repeal all the “get out of jail early” State Laws.
2) Semi-legal🙄 immigrants living 12 to an apartment need to be given minimum-wage labor jobs building a few more prisons and mental asylums.
3) This guy must have some kind of crazy-con-smarts …. give him a job in Newsom’s office…he’ll fit right in.

2
2

I’M curious …where’s Jason Kelly’s family?…might be a good place to start finding the root causes of these events …and provide a direction to start from…….you think maybe?

did you not read any comments? His father is a lifelong tweak, mother gone years ago,and sister not hanging out with him.,he would only steal from anyone hes around and cany follow any rules..are you serious?

the reason he lives like this is from his family, dad taught son to do dope

He needs to be isolated from the general population. It’s obvious that he can’t control his criminal activity. Jail or prison is the only solution at this point. What happened to three strikes? The courts should do its job and keep him off the streets for our protection.
