So some people or one person here gave me a lot of flak for making too many comments about The Band. As l mentioned ones you never hear them on any of the radio stations that plays sixties and seventies music. It occurred to me there’s 2 other bands you don’t hear, although they were quite good and had a loyal following, they are “Blood Sweat and Tears and Grand Funk Railroad, l liked them both and still have their records from back then. It makes me realize that even when you listen to a radio station The Eagle from Sacramento you don’t necessarily get a wide selection of bands, too bad
Thank God for YouTube

Well, The Band, GFR and BS&T are all of my generation, and I have listend to music as far back as I can remember. My parents listened to music on the radio, some popular, mostly from their generation, thirties and forties. As soon as I could affor a turntable (at 15) I bought one, and have not been without some kind of way to play muisc since then. Thank you for your kind comment.

My favorite Grand Funk album is “Flight of the Phoenix”. I was fortunate to see Mark Farner with Ringo Starr’s All Star Band. He is a terrific musician and brought a lot of energy to the stage. It was fun seeing him play side by side with Randy Bachman and the stoic John Entwistle.
I still have the BS&T early stuff on vinyl and play it frequently.

Hanne, I enjoy reading your comments about music. Much rather talk about music than crime or politics. 70’s music was the greatest! On a side note, I miss KFOG.

Yes, I have found these day music is my biggest escape. I listen to the news, and know what is going on, but seeing I don’t care much for either choice for president, I have kind of disengaged. It is hard to say which era had the best music, certainly the seventies is up there, but I probably lean more towards the sixties. Having said that, since I’m also a huge jazz fan, the forties and fifties were great for jazz, but I have some great jazz recording from Montreux Jazz Festival from the mid seventies. I’m not very inspired by todays music, a friend of mine suggested (when I emailed her how much I liked The Band) I listened to Ed Sheehan, I did, but was not impressed.

I believed it is Ed Sheeran!

Tells you what an impression he made on me. Thanks for the correction.

Book report: Daybreak – 2250 A.D., Andre Norton, 1952, original title: Star Man’s Son. There are 3 different surviving tribes of humans after an atomic world war. Wanders/plainsmen, farmers/artist, and mountain/intellectual folks. A young mutant raised in the mountain tribe has just become an adult in his tribe but is quietly rejected in many ways. Everyone knows he is a mutation because of his white hair even though he is otherwise human. He goes on a journey to find a place to the north that may no longer be radioactive to find books and other useful items to increase his tribe’s knowledge of the past. The dangers he has to face, the farmer he helps save, the run in with the wanders, plus the leader of his own mountain people is hunting him. Then there are the Beast Things that may or may not have been human in past generations. Each chapter bring new dangers to survive. This is a busy book that teen boys should enjoy.

A side note: this paperback was published by ACE publishers and seem to have the best paperback binding. So many of my other paperbacks are falling apart from age.

Well, the Rent control passed! Guess they could not gathered all the signatures by the due date😏

Pick One:
.
A) Shrimp Paste
B) Shrimp Powder
C) Yuck

A and B depending on how you use it in cooking. 👨‍🍳

“B”
but true Capt B… Depends on what I’m fixin’ up…

US Steel has been sold, 98% of shareholders approved sale.
After MANY decades of taking profits and severe reluctance to modernize their mills by upper management ruined the company. I was second generation steelworker and looked forward to my Grandson and his five year old son both being able to have living wage jobs at the Pittsburg plant. Nippon Steel is the only hope to getting steel mill over the hill in Pittsburg back open.

Why haven’t we heard from the Atticus ?

You might have scared him off Frank…. try playing at least a little hard to get.

i have tried very hard not to scare the Atticus. I put food out at night for him and don’t make sudden movements when he feeds.

It’s possible the forces of darkness have captured him. I’m collecting for a ransom fund. Contributions are over a dollar three eighty.

Came across this on Reddit, thought it worth sharing.

Thanks for YouTube tip. Unfortunately YouTube has severely shot themselves in both feet with their insentient advertising. Ok they want to put a couple up front no problem, but when they stick em in video you’re watching one of two things happen, window gets closed or Ethernet gets unplugged. Used to watch their videos several times a day, because of advertising now maybe once a month.

I watch you tube a lot. Music, movies, documentaries, yes there are adds, but I have not had any problems with windows getting closed or anything else.

of interest; or not…
came across a booklet from CA State Parks 2008.
Common birds of Mt. Diablo.
70 common & over 200 documented…
Wonder if these numbers have changed over the resent years….

@ S – I guess that would depend on which years you resent.
I personally have resented the last few recent years with Joe Biden as President….they’ve really sucked.

2024 Garden adventures have begun,
Fortex pole bean transplants getting munched on, figured earwigs, so out with soy sauce and canola oil in empty tuna can. Early next morning, evidence of more munching, snail slime tracks coming out of Gladiolas so active yeast, sugar and hot water in tuna can. That’ll fix it . . .
.
Nope, sugar and yeast along with soy sauce and canola cans all right side up and empty.
Opossum has evidently saddled up to the bar, . . . . Oh Joy
Time to set out critter cams to confirm . . . then what ?
Razor wire, claymores or M107 ? ? ?
.
Short term to solve original problem,
Catch EM’ Sticky Insect Trap Coating 8Oz Brush with Cap for earwigs.

May I suggest a pit & punji sticks that have been dipped in Mountain Dew?

Daughter chauffeured us to do Costco shuffle and she stops for gas.
As she was trying to maneuver to a pump she turned wheel back n forth and backed and filled.
All of a sudden over her Nissan SUV audio system, comes a voice,
“Michelle, you really shouldn’t be driving”.
.
You know me, had to ask, how often does your car talk to you ? ? ?

I only drive older vehicles, they never get snarky.
Alexa talks sexy to me tho… she says I “Give her a charge”

IF you considered buying an EV would you be willing to also pay
a yearly subscription fee to vehicle maker for software upgrades ? ? ?

don’t ya’ kinda have to?

Gas-powered vehicles also require subscriptions for things you think ought to be included in the purchase price. It’s a new revenue stream for manufacturers. Welcome to the future, Original G.

The PUC appointed by Newsom passed a last minute measure to charge utility rates based on income. PGE would have access to tax records. What could possibly go wrong? It’s just another way to raise rates for those who don’t pay their “fair share” whatever that is. Democrats and Republicans already have remorse about this bill. Lower incomes already have programs to assist with reducing their utility bills. Votes count.
Turning Calif into a socialist state.

It is a pleasure watching skilled persons working, ones who don’t need 20 minutes arguing what they’ll do in next 10 minutes.
