Solo vehicle fatal crash on I-680 near Concord
This morning, April 7, 2024 at 5:14am, CHP Contra Costa was advised of a solo vehicle crash on northbound I-680 at the SR-242 split, near Concord. A gray Mazda CX-9, with 6 occupants, was traveling northbound on I-680 when it left the roadway, traveled through the dirt median that separates the two freeways, and overturned multiple times. CHP and emergency personnel arrived on scene and observed the Mazda on its roof with several occupants ejected from the vehicle. Four female occupants were transported to the hospital with major injuries. A 9 year old female passenger was pronounced deceased on scene by emergency personnel.
Our initial investigation indicates several of the occupants were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. The driver, a Hispanic male adult approximately 30 years old, fled the scene on foot and at this time is still outstanding.

Wow an innocent girl dies and the driver runs off. I hope they catch his butt and throw him in prison. This is terrible.
Gotta be human smuggling. If the driver was a friend or family to the other five he would have stayed on scene. Sad.

I thought the same thing: human smuggling, because the way the driver ran off. If he was their dad or family member he would not run off. I’ll tell you, this open border is costing a lot of casualties and the news does not like to focus on. ( it would make the Biden administration look really bad for what they’re allowing)
youre assumimg this drivers was actually human and had morales or cared at all.Dont be silly,if he did nothing wrong he would have stayed,how could he help his family when hes in jail for DUI /homicide/Because hes law abiding citizen?Now he can change his identity by adding another hyphenated name on the end.EG.-Garcia-lopez-guttierez,etc,etc.
You forgot Trump ordered the House not to pass the recent immigration reform bill so he would have an issue to attack Biden on. So the Republican house blocked that bill.
That’s a pretty wild and dumb assumption. Most likely they were driving home from a late party and the driver was hammered. His vehicle is obviously registered as they know who he is and where he’s from.

….my guess – the driver had no license, insurance, drunk and / or drugged, maybe here illegally ….. bets? ….catch him and throw him in jail for a looooooong time
I’ve seen crazy people do wacko things at that separation. I’ve seen them go both ways over the embankment to get to the other freeway when they realize late in the game they’re on the wrong freeway. They forget they’re not the only one on the road and cut off other drivers. I’m guessing the spineless coward thought he could make the switch and didn’t, then decided it was better to run than face the music.

My husband and I were the second car hit by a drunk driver years ago on Willow Pass. The woman who hit us had a young girl in her car that was injured and bleeding from her ears. The driver her mother left the child at the scene of the accident. The mother ran off. The first car she hit had a infant in the car. The infant was also hurt. Some people just don’t care.

Charge every single adult in that car with a felony. Make some up if you have to. They all had a hand in that little ones death and that can’t be abided.
