Having someone who lives in your society who is so horrible that the only solution is for him to die is a terrible thing.

Since the beginning of time, there have always been such horrible people with us.

The death penalty is something no one wants but it is a necessity.

Society cannot tolerate people whose behavior warrants death.

That’s why there are judges.

Society has to protect society.

When it’s appropriate…. as a reminder …the citizens of Calif voted to bring back the death penalty but Newscum did not take the will of the people.. another campaign promise skirted …another? he promised to kill the high speed rail to no where and save taxpayers $!00 Billion + … did he? noooooooo …how much will it be now?

It may not be a deterrent to others but he will NEVER DO IT AGAIN. FRY EM!
Do the same thing to the perp that he did to the victim. Eye for an eye!

Depends on the viciousness of the crime. Death is the end of suffering, and I’d rather see the evil in this world suffer. Sitting in a small cell in solitary confinement for the rest of their life would result in mental, emotional, and physical deterioration. There are evil people in this world that deserve such a fate. Evil people like Richard Allen Davis, who kidnapped, raped and murdered 12-year-old Polly Klass, or Jose Antonio Ibarra, who beat, and bashed in Laken Riley’s head so viciously, that she was unrecognizable. The evil should be made to suffer for the rest of their lives. Death would be a slap on the wrist.

Would be okay if only it was done quicker. Taking 20 or more years to get around to it doesn’t do that much good. Even then they might get off.

25

I agree.

I think 30 min from pronouncement is adequate.

Exactly. Where is the deterrent factor if the consequences take 20 or 30 years to be realized? The people involved or who remember the original crime are long forgotten or gone, so the deterrent factor is not there. Appeals for convictions are fine, but there should not be so many and the process not so cumbersome as to take decades to grind through.

Bad. Let them stew in Pelican Bay or Supermax for the rest of their pathetic lives.

The sooner they’re executed, the better for mankind. Don’t have to feed them, house them, or deal with them. Truly, as soon as they are condemned, all news and images of them need to be scrubbed from the internet and news. Appeals must be streamlined too. Whenever incontrovertible evidence proves their guilt, they then ought to be held incommunicado and then executed forthwith.

Public Hangings with dead guys left in full view for at least 3 days in public square near courthouse!!

Execution of evildoers is good for mankind, guarantee they can’t re-offend.
“Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.
It’s just up to us to send them to the Lord A.S.A.P. for the vengeance part.
(Eternal soul cast into a pit of fire, depths of Hell to be nagged by ex wife till the end of time, etc.)

For it
If Kohberger is found guilty, hope to see the firing squad

Grand pappy told my pappy, back in my day, son
A man had to answer for the wicked that he done
Take all the rope in Texas, find a tall oak tree
Round up all of them bad boys hang them high in the street
For all the people to see

That justice is the one thing you should always find
You gotta saddle up your boys
You gotta draw a hard line
When the gun smoke settles we’ll sing a victory tune
And we’ll all meet back at the local saloon
We’ll raise up our glasses against evil forces
Singin’ whiskey for my men, beer for my horses

The day after the appeal trail verdict, bye bye!!!

I have no moral objection if it’s applied fairly and done competently. Let’s stop saying the death penalty though, let’s just call it death.

I don’t believe that the state is able to do this without making mistakes. For that reason alone I don’t think it’s appropriate.

Somebody saw “The Ox Bow Incident” in grade school.
Probably saw “Hang ‘Em High” too.

Good. But they should carry through with it instead of the prisoner sitting in a jail cell all of their life.

Didn’t Calif vote for the death penalty only to have it overturned by Newsom?

Noting the irony that the vast majority of so-called pro-life politicians are also pro-death penalty. Not to mention pro-NRA.

@ Concord Guy – What irony?
I don’t see any logic in your statement.
Being pro life regarding an unborn baby…. how in the world does that compare to being pro death penalty for a murderer?
And what about the NRA?
Try making a little sense if you’re able.

No. People have been on death row and released because they were wrongfully convicted. Life with no parole is fine. Once someone is killed there’s no bringing them back.

well, seems all we have is the sentencing of death; the penalty is rarely seen all the way through. I am not comfortable saying it is good or bad. I do think it would be effective were it fully implemented, beyond just the threat of execution.
