New Lim’s Garden on Clayton Rd. in Concord has permanently closed.
The inside of the building is empty, and the sign on the window says the building is now for lease.
The business phone number has also been disconnected.
It’s unknown why they closed.
FUN FACT: The building used to be home to Arby’s before new Lim’s Garden moved into the spot in the 1980s.
… unfortunately no surprise… been going downhill for a while… Hunan next down the street? hardly open at all anymore
After the change of ownership last year the food went downhill. They didn’t keep the same cook or recipes. We lost a great restaurant.
It was even better when it was Chens!
Well… I got horrible food poisoning at the old Lims… don’t know if they were one in the same….. but if so, no surprise.
Bring back Arby’s
Such a great location. I hope something good moves in.
After Golden Willow closed…hard to find a good Chinese Resturant
Really miss Golden Willow 🥲
Yes! Golden Willow was so amazing!!! And so true, so hard to find a good Chinese food restaurant after going to them for years. I miss there sesame chicken and wonton soup the most!
Walter
Check out Aberdeen on Main St in Martinez. Fabulous Chinese food
Amazing food!
After Golden Willow closed hard to find a good Chinese restaurant in Concord
Hunan Garden is the BOMB!!!! Love that place.
Sad that New Lim’s has closed up shop, They used to have the BEST lemon chicken of any Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been to, but after the Covid closures, they just weren’t the same. Hunan, down the street, in what used to be an A&W root beer place, seems to still be going strong, even though it sometimes appears empty. They do a LOT of take out business, and the Hot and Sour soup is to die for, according to a friend.
New Lim’s used to be the best. During COVID I’d order take out.
They sold to another. The first thing I ordered was Lemon Chicken. It was so different that I verified the owners changed. It was not good.
“It’s to die for” is a strange recommendation for a meal.
@DR. JELLYFINGER….Not for people that eat Fugu sushi.
I remember it as the A&W drive in serving the papa, mama and baby burger. Right next to miniature golf that is now a senior apartment complex.
Whoops. Wrong restaurant. Thinking Hunan’s.
Never like to hear about these places closing, unless it is because the owner is in a position to retire, but that usually involves a sell off. Challenging to run a successful business, let alone a restaurant, let alone in this day and age.
We like The Chinese Kitchen west end of El Monte across from King’s Donuts.
Is where Chestnut Ave where it joins Clayton Road.
Have been going there for decades and they deliver.
We just started going there (after trying all of the local places and hating them, including New Lims). Pretty good, I must say! Not the best I’ve ever had, but good. We go once a month!
I agree! They have fantastic food and we’ve been getting their takeout for years. Their standout feature is how each dish has its own distinctive flavor. For me, this makes them unique amongst other Chinese restaurants.
There hasn’t been a good Chinese restaurant in Concord since the Sun & Moon restaurant closed downtown. I miss their foil-wrapped chicken. Sadly, Tao San Jin in Slatten Ranch in Antioch is closed too. They had amazing tomato beef and honey walnut prawns.
Chef Choy’s in Pleasant Hill is quite good, especially their egg foo young.
Don’t forget Cal Wok
Miss them so much like family…
R.I.P kobe and China chef old miniature golf and when homes obtainable in claymore. Concord sucks
Anyone remember Lim’s Garden on Meadow Ln? Next to the old “Stop N Go”.
Red Dragon on Clayton Rd is really good. Since covid it is a to go restaurant only. Hunan’s is good too.
