No, …Knock on Wood.

Correction, Yes!, We did!
About 18 years ago, some guy that was high on something roaming the neighborhood.
At 4 AM he was ripping out phone and cable wiring, banging on doors and windows, and breaking things.
Ours was the last house hit, with him taking beer bottles from recycle busting 2 windows in our car and then, hopping back fence and breaking a bedroom window at the apartment with a Baby in a crib. Thank Goodness the Baby was not injured. The police got him, but no one’s damages were repaid by this guy.

Years ago, somebody broke into my ’62 Impala and stole my 8 track. It was an easy job, in those days the 8 track was mounted under the dash, and all they needed was a coat hanger to unlock the door. Another time, I had a Camaro, and some kid stole the chrome valve caps from the wheels. The kids would put them on their bikes, so I went back to black plastic valve caps, and nobody ever stole them again.

I was one of those kids who took chrome valve covers. We collected and traded them, sorta like baseball cards. I got involved because it was something all the other kids were doing and I wanted to fit in. A friend’s mom saw me do it one time and ratted me out to my parents. For some reason, I never considered it stealing.

That was the last time that I was ever spanked, deservedly so. I learned not to succumb to peer pressure because of this. Also learned that stealing is stealing. I don’t think I sat right for a few days.

Sorry if you were one of my victims.

Professor, Don’t be sorry, I did it too as a kid… Karma.

once… @1984 or 5

5 times:
1) Someone keyed (from front to back) my 1998 jeep cherokee.
2) A guy was mad at his gf so he smashed all the glass on the driver side and the back gate of my jeep.
3) Someone smashed the passenger side window of my 1997 pickup.
4) A thief busted the door lock of the truck.
5) A thief took the parking marker from the truck.

Someone stole the battery from my 1952 Hudson Wasp in Sacramento in 1976. It was a 6-volt battery, so maybe it was a VW owner.

Just this week. Some scumbag stole the headlight (just one) off my F-150 that was parked in front of my house.

Not yet and have my fingers crossed.

oh yeah, stole 2 stereos out of vehicle Mustang (second time all the cassette tapes), stole tools out of my van, stole the whole car (Mustang again) from PH BART ….. not one arrest or prosecution – always told “oh happens too often to pursue”

Someone stole a side curtain from my 1962 Triumph TR3 in front of the VFW in East Hartford Conn. It was the week before Christmas 1965. Had to order one from England.

No. They took the whole car…. and totaled it (this was in 1969).

Yup. My car was stolen from Concord BART while I was at work on a Saturday morning in 2012. Parked on the surface lot in view of the stolen attendant. It was found 3 weeks later when they hit a curb and called a tow truck. I got a notice later about a court appearance for the offender, then another about it being canceled. Don’t know what happened after that. Never got the car back, and I was not allowed to deprogram the ECU before they sent it to auction, turning my custom handheld tuner into a $500 brick.

3 times.
1. In Sacramento the entire car was stolen. Was recovered but total loss. No one apprehended.

2. In Sa Francisco. Entire car stolen. Recovered. Needed repaid. No one apprehended.

3. In Oakland. Broken into and contents stolen. Windows needed replacing. Goods not recovered. No one apprehended.

Yes
Multiple vehicles from my son’s high school have been broken into during sporting events at Concord High School.
Once they see a sticker of the visiting school they will break into vehicles and steal backpacks

Yes, the drug dealers next door backed into one of my cars, never paid for it, but “someone” then bashed in all the other parts of the car. It was a great car, but I had to donate it to a charity that repaired cars. Last time I saw the car it was on TV going down Highway 4 with about 10 police cars behind it. It had been stolen from the repair shop and was still running great!

Yes.
1 – honda civic 1986 lx stolen right out the front of my aunt house in Richmond on 30th street, nice neighborhood back in 1998. I had stayed overnight. She walked in and was like you still here? Where is your car? The Honda was found by police few days later like 6 blocks away from her home.
2 – 1995 Honda Civic window smashed pleasant hill century theater parking lot, nothing was stolen.
3 – The H from back of my Honda gone at some point.
4 – Toyota camry stolen from Concord Bart station. When I went to tell the Bart attendant, he asked repeatedly if I was sure I parked where I thought I parked. Police found it few days later in front of little Cesar’s on Monument here in concord.

Yes, but I shoulder a very small part of the blame. I forgot to lock my car in the driveway overnight. They rummaged through a few things and stole a pocket knife and a set of earphones. A relatively cheap reminder to lock my car when I’m not in it.

We are all victims because of increased insurance rates due to the actions of criminals.

“Have I ever been the victim”?
No…..nope….never the victim.

Yup. I’ve had two rental cars stolen, one in Albany NY, the other in Chandler AZ. And someone popped the hood on my car while it was parked at the Frankfurt Airport and stole my headlight lamps and I had to drive from there home to Wurzburg with just my running lights, at night, on the Autobahn. Polizei would probably have just shot me if they saw. Couldn’t blame them neither. 🚔 🇩🇪
