Was going to type the same thing.

No City, County, or State should have rent control.

Let the market reflect the rent prices.

When governments manipulate the market, it fails every time.

Just look at the inflation rate today.

Absolutely not. It chases away good landlords and leaves only the ones who are unwilling to make repairs. In the end, it only benefits those who are currently in a rental and hurts all future renters and landlords.

No. It’s socialism.

No. Let the price be set by supply and demand. Econ 101.

It seems that in every sector of the economy where we do this, there needs to be a catastrophic bailout every 20 years. So, this idea makes a good tweet but is fit for the last century, not this one.

That will just be impossible no thank you on the rent control it’s bad for the landlords All Cities having a rent control that will never happen.

So if you’re referring all cities are you referring all cities in California or all cities in the United States to have rent control ?

Nobody should tell me how to run my business. If you can’t afford my rent move on somewhere else.

Why control? Why do they always think in terms of controlling? Why not incentives for keeping rent down (of course incentive only given if the premises are kept up)? Probably because it would mean in less tax collected for the politicos pet projects. 🙄

Captain Bebop’s, Interesting idea. Please expand on the incentive idea. Always ready to hear new ideas.

Usually incentives are tax breaks, in this case landlords would get tax breaks for keeping rents down. But as I said that means less tax income for the politicos which they don’t like.

THE DECK IS STACKED AGAINST THE LANDLORDS…
Rent Control Unfairly Targets Landlords.
Work on the pricing that affects most citizens.
No Control of PG&E Prices.
No Control of Water Prices.
No Control of Food Prices.

There is no control over tax increases either. At present there is a proposition on an upcoming ballot to give us voters some control. Newsom and other politicians are already in court trying to have the measure removed from the ballot.

Oh, and don’t forget No Control of Medical Prices.

If I charge too much for my rental properties, they are empty. That is as far as rent control should go.

15

No Way…. there should not be rent control anywhere – market should determine rent

13

No. If it passes landlords will sell and invest somewhere else. Edi Birsan and the other 2 council politicians are ignorant.

AMY,
.
Mayor Edi Birsan is running for reelection again this year for a 4th term, we’ll see if the voters of Concord City Council District 4 will finally vote him out of office. He’s been on the Concord City Council since 2012, what’s he done for the people of Concord?

Rent control is price fixing by the government at the expense of the landlord to benefit the renter, which is a form of Marxism.

Landlords: Hell No!
Renters: Hell Yes!

It’s wild that some of the folks who like to complain about inflation and rising prices also think landlords should get to jack up their rental prices every year. Rent control means you only get to make reasonable increases.

Can only answer that question with another question…in this hypothetical, am I the landlord or the tenant?

Rent control makes as much sense as having a minimum wage, i.e., ZERO. We area free market economy, at least we used to be.

Not your fault but twice I read that as ‘ flea market’ economy. I’ll blame low blood sugar.
