Quiet Circle in Concord wasn’t so quiet this weekend.
Here’s the report from our friend Mark, who also sent the pictures shown above.
“Last night, the normally peaceful area of Quiet Circle in Concord was disrupted by extensive emergency operations. Crews employed chainsaws and heavy machinery to dismantle a large eucalyptus tree that had toppled at about 6 pm on Sunday, obstructing the road and causing damage to a property and backyard along Redlands Way. This incident left residents of Quiet Circle without any means to enter or exit their homes for more than eight hours. Complicating matters further, another eucalyptus tree nearby, significantly more significant at a diameter of 6 feet, posed an imminent risk of falling. This tree already caused structural damage by breaking through its retaining wall and fence. Should this tree fall, it is expected to cut off access to Quiet Circle and potentially destroy an adjacent house on Redlands Way. In response to the danger, the affected home on Redlands Way was evacuated as a safety measure until the threatening tree was safely removed. Meanwhile, residents were provided a temporary narrow path through the debris of the fallen tree, allowing them limited access to their homes on Quiet Circle.”
Thanks again, Mark!
That was a doozy of a storm yesterday.
viewing these pictures something is off clearly. The grass is bent 90degrees and the the way those limbs snapped does not add up. All points to aliens clearly because astronaut theory tells us aliens long ago came with giant spoons and stirred the atmosphere up before clearly this is what they are doing again. They have technology we cant even comprehend like giant spoons and speed mixers stirring up our atmosphere like a mad chef on crack cocaine high as a kite messing up our atmopshere causing storms and stuff. These aliens got to go!!! we need to build a wall!!!!!!!!!
It looks like things have not been quiet on this street…why, just last month “The ironically named Quiet Circle in Concord was the site of a DEA-led raid of a home. The operation went on for 15 hours, but officials have not said what was at stake.”
Those eucalyptus trees are a real pain in the @ss. Probably astronomical cost to remove one, too. I’d be Leary if I had one growing near my home. Hopefully this neighborhood gets cleaned up quickly.
In the good old days before stump grinding, large Eucalyptas tree stumps were so difficult to remove that they would pack dirt around them and surround it with wood or rocks and make a huge planter that would run the entire length of a nieghborhood being built thru every backyard where the row of trees once stood.
Blame it on the adjacent quarry!
That wind took out a 300′ section of derelict dock at the West side of Bethel Island’s Taylor Slough & it floated away crashing into other docks and boats. I think it’s been secured and a crane & barge are on scene to haul it outa there now.
Eucalyptus trees only have a lifespan of about a hundred years. Those and many hardwood trees were imported to CA during the late 1800s for bracing up caves for the mining industry, railroad ties and ship building. Eucalyptus trees, I believe, were brought from Australia as they were fast growing and relatively strong and straight. That’s a big reason why CA has a large variety of different kinds trees.
