Antioch Mayor Changes His Name

Antioch Mayor Lamar Thorpe is now Lamar Hernandez-Thorpe.

Hernandez-Thorpe said in a press release Thursday he was born in 1981 in prison to a mother addicted to heroin.

He said he was two days old when he was placed in foster care and raised by Mexican immigrants in East Los Angeles. As a result, his first language is Spanish. His parents gave birth to two biological children and, as foster parents, adopted several others, all sharing their last name, “Hernandez.”

Hernandez-Thorpe said his parents fought to adopt him legally, but failed because his biological mother retained her parental rights.

Hernandez-Thorpe said in a statement that he is proud of his African American family and heritage, but he’s equally proud of his Mexican heritage instilled by his parents, the Hernandezes.

In March 2023, the mayor said he would petition to change his name to “Hernandez-Thorpe.” Two days later, his father, Guillermo Hernandez, passed away from prostate cancer.

On Monday, Contra Costa County Superior Court Judge Virginia George granted his petition to change his name to “Lamar Anthony Hernandez-Thorpe.”

Good for him for honoring the people who raised him.

Heroin addict mother gave birth to him in prison…. oh yeah, pride.
That DUI probably rates right up there too.

Still does not change what a garbage person he is.

What would happen if a mayor of European descent declared their pride?

Its actually true, you’re not allowed to be proud of your heritage and celebrate your culture if you’re from Europe. You’re then labeled as racist or supremist.

Probably the most Antioch story i’ll read this month

He can change his name or whatever else he wants to change…it doesn’t change that he’s a disgrace of a mayor, a criminal, and a crook. Nothing to be proud of Mr Hernandez-Thorpe

I’m sure this has nothing to do with running for further office in an increasingly Latino community.

Now if he could change his attitude. There is a youtube of him at a city council meeting challenging a speaker to fight.

antioch’s problems are many, high density housing and lack of Policing have made situation bad.
Rudderless city management and political climbers, woke agenda.

.

Always trust your first instinct.

Why after all these years? It’s politically driven.

Mayor of Antioch? Probably be burning off his finger prints and having his teeth removed before it’s all said and done.

It’s funny how the liberals think that if you change thebname of something, that you change the situation. Ie: homeless are called housing challenged. Food stamps are called California fresh, etc etc. It works for a few months until the reality creeps back through it. And at that point they’ll probably change the name again.

Really, Badge1104? The Chicago Plumbers Union will be dying the Chicago river green on March 16 in honor of St Patrick’s Day. The annual Italian Heritage Parade will take place in San Francisco on October 13. Oktoberfest Zinzinnati will take place in Cincinnati on September 19-22, drawing half a million visitors to celebrate the region’s German heritage. You can enjoy Shakespeare in a lovely outdoor setting in Orinda or listen to Italian opera in SF. The Scottish Highlands Gathering and Games will take place in Pleasanton on Labor Day weekend. There will be a Greek festival in Oakland in May. Plenty of folks are celebrating their European heritage all over this great country of ours.

Now if we could change his status as mayor instead. That would make for a much better story and day.
