Concord’s Homeless Strategic Plan, a comprehensive initiative aimed at addressing homelessness in the community, is nearing completion, marking a significant milestone in the City’s commitment to tackling this pressing issue.
As the plan enters its final stages, the public is invited to review the draft plan and provide comments at the upcoming Working Group meeting scheduled for Monday, Jan. 22 at 6 p.m.
The event will be held at the Concord Senior Center, providing an opportunity for community members to actively participate.
The culmination of these efforts is set for Tuesday, Feb. 6, when the Homeless Strategic Plan is scheduled for City Council adoption. This pivotal document will serve as a roadmap for the City of Concord, detailing the comprehensive approaches and initiatives that will be undertaken to address and alleviate homelessness within the community.
I’m sorry that I’m going to sound so negative in what I say….. but after years of trying to help the homeless myself, I don’t think it will ever be solved until we start getting tough and demanding they work and get off of drugs.
Most are able-bodied younger men and they’ve devolved into a pitiful state because of their drug and alcohol use and society’s catering to them. They need to somehow work to gain back their self-esteem and self-worth. That will also keep them out of trouble. A non-profit should be started to help facilitate them working, whether it’s digging ditches or licking envelopes just something rather than the constant handouts we’re doing.
When is this waste of time and money going to end.Make these people productive and self sufficient.Paid work programs clean the streets what ever find something.Housing is a cop out.I’m sure you have heard give a man a fish and he can eat for a day.Teach him to fish he can eat for a lifetime. We are throwing money away.
It won’t make a difference! Just look at how much the City of Concord spent on consultants for this plan. How many full-time employees will the City of Concord have to hire to administer this Homeless Strategic Plan?
Core only helps who they wanna help with housing
They play favoritism with there family and friends of parolees
I have low expectations. These types of plans haven’t seem to work anywhere else.
Coming soon to a ballot near you asking for more money to help the poor homeless. Probably another property tax this coming election and people will fall for it!🤦♀️
I am all for helping people that have the desire to be helped. That being said I also believe in the restoration of sanatoriums to force people that can’t help themselves (addiction) to reenter society. Young people I do not understand being “or wanting to be” homeless as you are fully capable of being productive members. Handing money to someone younger and more capable than me on a street corner is frustrating. I came from welfare as well but I hated it and had to work (i felt) twice as hard as the next to not be there anymore so I can’t be told it cannot be done. I am a little angry at the thought of simply throwing money at it without having real solutions to move forward with. I will have to read extensively the Homeless Strategic Plan to actually have ground to stand on here but my first indications due to track record are poor.
Your heart sounds like it’s in the right place… However you do realize the cost to build and maintain “sanatoriums” would run into the millions, at the taxpayers expense.
Yes but it’s only costing us billions already.
Anyone handing cash to these bums need to realize every penny is spent on drugs and alcohol and cigarettes,They get all food and clothing for free, and dont want a home.
The irony being the more successful the program(s), the more homeless it’ll attract. Zero sum game. I don’t have a solution though, so my criticism isn’t all that helpful.
OB! Miss ya bud. 👮♂️
Geez, sorry I blew your cover OB. I’d attempt to intercede on your behalf but I’m barely allowed on here my own self. Gotta be on my best behavior. White knuckling it some days though. 😝😎
The logo looks nice.
Ask San Francisco how its been working out for them.
