In spite of some of its political drawbacks, the beautiful state of California is my home, and I don’t plan on moving to another state any time soon. People moving for personal reasons are one thing, but people that move because they don’t like California’s political policies, in my opinion, are cowards, and would rather run than fight for what they believe in. I am a proud US Marine Vietnam veteran. We were trained to improvise, adapt, and overcome all obstacles in all situations. I firmly believe that when a situation becomes difficult, the strong will step up and handle it.

PERSONALLY, I don’t like California’s political climate or leadership, and haven’t for the past three decades. I tried voting for certain candidates that I thought would do a good job for everyone in the state but that didn’t work out. I’M NO COWARD. I was born and raised in San Francisco and am heartbroken with what that city has become. I’m fed up with this state. My wife and I are now both retired and will be moving to rural Virginia in the fall.
Idaho or the higher elevations of Arizona to get into cooler areas … lower taxes, away from idiots like Newscum … OR & WA have already become too much like Cali… CO too (if there was a cooler non-humid area of TX maybe there)

Charlottesville VA. People are polite, town is charming. Because it is a college town, there is a prevailing open-mindedness that one doesn’t find in the hinterlands of the Deep South.
…was there in the ’90’s for a while and it was a second favorite – from what I’ve heard and read in the last 3-4 yrs it sounds like its becoming a bit too Cali – but that’s not from personal experience (CG – did you ever go to Michie Tavern? – great place)

So retiring in Ca is off the list. I truly hate the politics but I was born and raised here and I love what it has to offer unfortunately retirement in other states provide a far more comfortable living “kinda sucks”. I’d stay in California. I’ve lived in other parts of the country. I’m in California by choice. If money were no object, I might live in another part of the state, though. Perhaps Santa Barbara for a primary residence and Sea Ranch for a second home.
I like where I am. Just get the state back to normal. Instead I think we should drive the crazies out …. to Somalia. That’s where they fit in.

This has been asked before but my response is the same. No plans to leave California or away from of where I am now. But if something were to force me to go it would be to New Mexico. Specifically somewhere in the south east corner. I remember reading that particular section did not have hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, extensive wild fires, little to none snow.

I will be relocating, as soon as I can. Just away from this state. Moved here, it was awesome. The great weather, awesome land all cannot no longer outshine the current state of the society, including the government. There are so many places, but currently, we are looking at Arizona (which unfortunately is absorbing a lot of California citizens, who are bringing the very ideology/policies/politics they voted for and are now fleeing with them, ruining that state).
If I was forced to move, probably Connecticut or New York since I lived in both states. I loved both when I lived there, especially Westport Ct. it was close to the water and I loved the beach. When I moved to New York City after 2 years in Ct. (a few month back living and working in my native Denmark) I did not like it, it was hot in summer, crowded etc. However, after a few month I got used to it, and it was the late sixties, and I was single so lots of things going on. I came to the East Coast straight from Denmark so I was use to cold weather, it would be a different story now after so many years in California, not sure I would like it. As for relocating within California, I know it is just across the bridge, but I love Benicia, also the Petaluma area and the Gold Country, Nevada City, Sonora, Columbia. I have been thinking about moving up there, it is cheaper than here, but my friends are in this area and the 2 Scandinavian Clubs I belong to as well.

OG – SBC / ATT did that 25 yrs ago but it never got in the media – 15K mgmt employees had to move or lose their job
Logan, Utah. Great area at an elevation of about 4500 feet. Beautiful Summers, but winter can be cold. Since it’s a college town, it has a youthful atmosphere. The Mormons are wonderful neighbors and very safe. Lots of outdoor activities and housing is reasonable along with lower taxes.
There were several reasons for us to take early retirement and move back to Tennessee, some financial and some for family, and I did get to spend three years with my Dad.

I want to be within a 2 hour drive of the ocean, don’t like cold weather or high humidity in the summer. I like the changes of the seasons, but don’t want to live where it snows. That essentially means California, Oregon or Washington. Politically, all 3 are about the same, but the Bay Area has better weather. If I were to move away from Clayton, it would probably be Livermore, a lot like Clayton, but with more restaurants.
When I moved from Foster City after my daughter went off to college I chose Benicia. I had friends in Concord and Walnut Creek, so I looked at areas around her. However, I liked Benicia because it was close to the water (the viking in me) whenever it was really hot in Concord, Benicia was often about 10 degrees colder. I liked that is was close to the wine country. Some of my friends thought I moved to the end of the earth, but I explained it was only 9 more miles to San Francisco than Foster City. I liked to Tahoe and Clear Lake several times a year, and from Benicia you are already out of the worst of the Bay Area traffic. When a friend of mine visited from Florida and we wanted to go out to a nice dinner, instead of figthting traffic and parking we went to an excellent restaurant in Napa.
