ConFire Engine 9 Struck By Vehicle On Sunday Night On I-680 In Pleasant Hill

While on the scene of a vehicle fire on I-680 northbound just north of Monument Blvd., ConFire Engine 9 was struck by a vehicle on Sunday night.

The collision occurred around 10:30 p.m.

Engine 9 and Truck 6 had been on scene for about 20 minutes. The initial vehicle fire was quickly knocked down, but they were still awaiting the arrival of CHP and a tow truck.

Engine 5 was dispatched as an additional “blocking” unit, along with a Medic unit for the driver of the second vehicle.

No firefighters were injured, and it’s unknown if the driver of the second vehicle suffered any major injuries.

It’s easy to tell if the car is in self driving mode: The turn signals are used.

I wonder if it was another Tesla on autopilot like the one that crashed into a firetruck in Walnut Creek last February.
