SOUND OFF – Contra Costa County Assessor Gus Kramer Sounds Off On Board Of Supervisors, Says They Made Fools Of Themselves And Embarrassed The Rest Of The Citizens By Passing Over Women Of Color, Hiring A White Man As Tax Collector

Once more the Contra Costa County, Board of Supervisors has made fools of themselves and embarrassed the rest of the citizens of our county by its recent appointment to fill the vacancy of the County Treasurer-Tax Collector. The Board of Supervisors, after months of pontificating, chest beating, and self-congratulating each other for creating a new department with two department heads called the Department of Racial Equity and Social Justice, proved how hypocritical they truly are. During the same board meeting, the board held public interviews for the County Treasurer-Tax Collector position, even though two of the candidates were current, high-level managers, with many years in the Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office, and both women of color, who were eminently qualified and credentialed. Predictably, the board instead picked a white man from Yuba County.

Why should any of us ever believe anything these board members say or do about racial or social justice?

Sincerely, Gus S. Kramer, Assessor

Sounds like the author is a bit of a racist himself. The fact that the county spends taxpayers monies on a “Department of Equity and Racial Justice” shows how deep the rot is.

*sigh*

This will never end. It will never be good enough. I don’t give a crap who the county appoints to pick my pocket, I’d just prefer they be honest and competent.

Talk about making a fool of yourself. What an ass. I had to google Gus Kramer to make sure he was a still white AND male.

Best person for the job! Period regardless of sex(people change that) or color (there is no slavery). Best person for the job ! Period!

It’s the best qualified candidate who should be hired regardless of the color of their skin. I was reading yesterday about the debate between Mark Cuban and Elon Musk over meritocracy with Musk defending it while Cuban support DEI. It’s an interesting debate.

I dont care what color, disfigurement, how ugly a person is… if they are best at what they do they are who i want doing the job… giving someone else the job with less skills just to fill a diversity quota is madness…

It never ends. Color this color that, what about character. Dr. King needs to come back and rescue us.

Gus Kramer sounds like a self hating white man, just as big of an embarrassing fool as the Board of Supervisors.

Has anyone woke Federal Glover up yet to let him know he is the chairperson?

The county paid $1,000,000 to a victim of one of his sexual harassment cases. He’s just a clown.

This is about attention for Kramer , nothing more.

Wrong, it’s about pledging allegiance to the WEF, DEI AND wokeness. Do even try and simplify it down to he is ego. It’s a planned program of destruction.

As a white man Gus why have you not given your job to a woman of color? I’m very disappointed with you.

FYI ~ For most of the folks who posted comments before mine, …. I agree.

I think a better sound-off would be calling out what a stupid waste of taxpayer money and resources it is to have a Department of Racial Equity and Social Justice and to have people staffed in it that are likely making 6 figures. DEI is well-intentioned in theory but is a total grift in practice. Make sure no one is excluded from the hiring pool based on race/gender/income (already heavily enshrined in state law) and hire the best person for the job. Maybe guy from Yuba was best person. I don’t know and I don’t know why Gus is all worked up over that part. You’re ignoring the forest for the trees, Mr. Kramer.

… whatever respect I had for Kramer is gone… race shouldn’t matter – competency & Experience should imho

15

Sorry Gus…stop shooting for the lowest common denominator and actually pick the most qualified for the job “get off your activist perch”.

I am not embarrassed about this hire. I am not even embarrassed for this idiot gus, who decided to broadcast what a simpleton he is, because I guess I never expected anything less. I am embarrassed as a citizen knowing how this state recklessly handles the hard earned money they grift from the taxpaying citizens of this state, embarrassed knowing that citizens of this state actually elect such people to represent them. This state is a laughing stock to the other 49 (except maybe in Washington). Gus is an example of why.

How’s DEI working out for Boeing?

AH, gus, . . . . it is called politics, for a reason . . . . . .
.
Watch out for that door !

It looks like Gus has his sight set on running for a higher better paying and more prestigious California political office, in the future.

Think of it this way: If this new white male doesn’t work out, they can fire him.
Try that with DEI……..

I don’t know why you keep on giving Gus Kramer a sympathetic platform, at best he’s a bully and a blowhard, at worst he’s abusive in the work environment and makes dubious decisions on valuations … especially around election time. He said this would be his last term, let’s hope that’s one promise he’ll keep.

This is the fault of former Contra Costa County Treasurer-Tax Collector Russell G. Watts and his timed resignation. It’s a common tactic among city and county elected officials to resign from office, rather than leaving at the end of their term, in order to usurp the will of voters by allowing City Councilmembers and County Supervisors to appoint their candidate for the vacated position rather than voters, and giving their candidate the power of incumbency.

If CCC could hire (Black) they would do it even if not fully qualified, look at other top and close to top positions in other departments in the county…..

So, it is politically incorrect to hire a white male over a black female. Does this also hold true if it were a white woman being considered versus a black woman. Does a transgender “woman” trump them all? This is all getting so ridiculous that it would almost be funny except for the fact that this type of hiring does not necessarily mean the most qualified person will get the job. And there are plenty examples of that these days!

Black hyper woke nonsense. Oh woe is me…

How about that District Attorney? LoL!
