Federal Glover officially took over as chairperson of the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, beginning his 24th and last year on the board.

Glover, who represents Hercules, Rodeo, Crockett, Martinez, Bay Point, Pacheco, Clyde, Pittsburg, and parts of Antioch and Marsh Creek in District 5, announced his retirement last month.

“As we head into 2024, we will focus on improving the quality of life for all county residents with the board’s theme of diversity, equity, inclusion, and access” guiding our efforts,” Glover said in a statement. “And as I reflect on my time as supervisor, I’m honored and humbled to continue representing the diverse communities of District 5 in my final year on the board. I’m excited about Contra Costa County’s future and look forward to our work ahead.”

Before serving on the board, Glover served as mayor and on the City Council of Pittsburg.

District 2 Supervisor Candace Andersen is the board’s new vice chairperson.

Can he leave now?

PARENT,
.
Why? If he left now that would mean the other four Contra Costa County Supervisors would appoint his replacement, do you really trust them to appoint a successor any more competent than Supervisor Federal Glover? Antioch City Councilmember Mike Barbanica, Pittsburg City Councilmember Shanelle Scales-Preston, and Pittsburg Vice Mayor Jelani Killings are the candidates running to replace Federal Glover on the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors and they aren’t much better, if any better, than he is. Supervisor Federal Glover has endorsed Pittsburg City Councilmember Shanelle Scales-Preston. The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors needs to do away with Glover’s “Waterfront District” which includes part of Antioch and stretches to and includes part of Pinole.

Because he is a career politician who does nothing of value in that career. So, why keep him?

PARENT,

Keep him because he’d be replaced by a younger career politician who’d do nothing of value with that career. If he left now voters would be deprived from picking his successor, as the other four Contra Costa County Supervisors would appoint their candidate as his successor, which would give their candidate an unfair and unbeatable advantage in the upcoming election because of the power of incumbency. This is exactly how Diana Becton became Contra Costa County District Attorney.

Well he was only arrested for drunk driving once

No, he’s far from the most qualified, but he got the most votes.

Almost 25 years in public service and no felony convictions. That’s something. 😬

Maybe he ca watch another SF Giants game on his computer during a Board Meeting while the Fire Chief is begging for Firefighter jobs not to be cut. Opps Federal, your ear plugs came out and all heard it during the meeting. Remember that a few years ago????
What has he actually done for all these years besides nothing????
