Detectives are still working to solve the death of a young woman whose nude body was found on the side of an East Bay road 37 years ago.

Dana Ramm’s body was found on Dec. 29, 1986 on Andrade Road in Sunol, according to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department.

The 20-year-old woman had been strangled, authorities said. She was last seen alive the night before at a Chevron gas station at the corner of Valley Avenue and Santa Rita Road in Pleasanton.

Ramm was with two acquaintances in a brown Oldsmobile that had run out of gas, and she waited alone in the car while they went to get money to buy gas, the sheriff’s office said.

When they returned, she was gone.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the sheriff’s cold case investigators at (510) 667-3661. To remain anonymous, information may be submitted via the anonymous tip line at (510) 667-3622.

I’m sorry to say, but it sounds like she was with the wrong crowd with those guys in their car that ran out of gas and then had to go find money to get gas.
One bad situation flowing into a horrible one. Maybe somebody they knew?

@Badge1104 I thought the same. Why didn’t they all go together to “get money”? Why would you leave a woman behind at a gas station alone? I’m assuming the gas station attendant was present back then. What did he or she see? Did Dana get into a second car? We’re said acquaintances male or female?

It’s good to see that Dana Ramm is still remembered.

People are making some assumptions that may not be true.
1) That the two who left to get or find money were “guys.” It may well have been three young women traveling together with Dana staying behind to keep an eye on personal possessions that were in the car.
2) That the gas station had an attendant. In 1986 smaller gas stations were closed for the night.

It is good that a detective is working this cold case. I find it odd that she would be left behind in a car by herself whether she was with males or females. Did they walk away to get gas money late at night?

Yeah, I mean who knows what happened but the last people to see someone are always suspects, maybe they just told the cops “oh we went inside to get gas and when we came out she was gone” but really they took her out to the country and everything went wrong… not like the detectives haven’t thought about that already and interviewed them and done alibi checks and all that… but some sort of connection like that with people she knows is likely

I googled the story, and the gas station was closed. They went to get gas somewhere else. Their names were Cody and Tracy, so probably two males.
