Two San Ramon police officers hospitalized Wednesday for precautionary reasons after possibly being exposed to fentanyl were released from the hospital after four hours.

Police on Wednesday arrested two people in the parking lot of the Safeway store at 2505 San Ramon Valley Blvd. after receiving an 11 a.m. report that someone was passed out in a car. Police found narcotics and a loaded gun in the car.

Police said two officers at the scene experienced elevated heart rates and were taken to San Ramon Regional Medical Center “for precautionary reasons, due to their elevated heart rates, dizziness and weakness,” police said.

“We are happy to report both officers were released after being observed for roughly four hours by medical personnel,” police said, in a statement.

Police didn’t specify how the officers might have been exposed to the suspected fentanyl or whether they tested positive for the drug.

Part of the parking lot was closed for several hours while firefighters decontaminated the scene.

Police arrested a 19-year-old man from Vacaville and a 27-year-old woman from Cottonwood in Shasta County on suspicion of possession of narcotics, possession of a loaded firearm without a serial number and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.

.
And that’s why no one, other than first responders, should ‘handle’ or physically aid a person possibly OD’ing on fentanyl.
.
Call 911 and stand by.

Fentanyl is no joke. It kills thousands of Americans yearly and resulted in an entire city being burned down from George Floyd Od’ing. (fact check that and post how much was in his system. Hint, enough to kill MANY people. The second he swallowed all the drugs he was selling he committed suicide)

Close the border.

Thank you FED UP. Crazy how literally everything these last several years has been absolute lies.

The elite are in full court press these days to make damn sure we are NOT united.

First Responders take enormous risks every day to safeguard the idiots and the everyday citizens.
We need to stand behind them legally, we need to give them pay equivalent to the high risks they take.
Thank God that some people stand up where most fear to tread.
Many Thanks to all First Responders…

The higher ups did not “Stand Up” for the first responders in Minneapolis, in fact they LIED about their training and what happened.

Nonsense. A Fentanyl exposure would yield supressed heart rate and breathing, not an elevated heart rate. It was just anxiety, poor training, and probably watching all the other no-merit B.S. “Exposures” that have been on Youtube, etc.

Please don’t let facts get in the way of a good storyline about fentayl.
I in no way approve of its non- medial use, but the overblown reactive hype is really ridiculous

Why do we even subject first responders to these kind of hazards? I’m a retired paramedic from 31 years of service. Why should we put ourselves in harms way for one person that wants to off themselves? The fact of the matter is even if we save them, they’re going to try again. This is the same situation with bridge jumpers. There’s no reason to stop them, they’re hell-bent on killing themselves, and they will keep trying until they succeed.

Unfortunately, many bleeding heart liberals seem to think we should try to help them, but that’s a losing effort. These are facts I learned from 31 years in Oakland and Contra Costa in the 911 system. I’m putting my tinfoil hat on now.

Chemical warfare courtesy of our CCP brethren.

Only need a nuclear attack to complete the WMD trifecta.

They only take drug problems seriously if they’re personally affected.
