.
Yes. And the perpetrator ended up needing “medical attention”.
.
#2A. No CC permit required. Fight crime and shoot back.

Yes and yes …… too many to count …. very few that I’ve observed has the perp been caught / arrested / convicted / sentenced ….. none that I’ve been a victim of has the perp been arrested / convicted / sentenced ….. our judicial system is overdue for an overhaul

My late wife and I were victims of an attempted armed robbery. It happened a few weeks after I came home from Vietnam. I was still in the Marines, but out of uniform, when we were walking down the street in San Francisco, and some guy approached us with a gun. He first pointed it at me, then at my wife. My first thought was to get my wife out of harms way, my military training kicked in and I quickly disarmed him. He took off running, and I got a nice Colt .45 1911 pistol out of it.

Yes I have witnessed a few. Also provided solid evidence that should have led to an easy prosecution of a serious crime. The local DA did not charge to the complete surprise of the officers that put the case together from my evidence

Point Richmond- 3 car break ins
Concord- multiple packages stolen, car broken in to (2 times),
San Francisco- hit and run with injury
When I was 8 and we lived in the bad part of Richmond, I remember on Halloween kids took all of the pumpkins my Mom carved and smashed them in our driveway and on the windshield of our minivan.

Gotta love criminals !

Not sauté I should mention these, but both.

1) I was assaulted in my home in 2020. Received a concussion which left me with permanent challenges.

2) Overheard the murder of an individual from my third-story home one hot summer night with the windows all open — about 2:00 AM. I figured a bar fight when the argument went on for thirty minutes — until one gunshot rang out. Of course, I didn’t know at the time someone was murdered. Found out the next day on the news.

Both events were disturbing to say the least.

My house was broken into on Thanksgiving AM (at 3:30 AM) / they broke in through side Garage Door – and came all the way inside my home.

They opened the automatic garage door – and were getting ready to “jack up” our only car (to steal Catalytic Converter).

They saw the table was set – and figured out folks were home.

I had locked myself in the bathroom (safe room) and made a LOT of noise.

They fled (leaving all the doors and gates wide open)

I guess all my old books and ancient TV wasn’t worth the bother.

(Grateful they didn’t get Catalytic Converter. I know people who have had their’s stolen twice).

Walking to my truck and about to go to work , a 19 years old Somalian guy who was reek with marijuana tried to rob my wallet with a screwdriver. I stayed calm and told him that I didn’t have my wallet. Then he asked me to give him a ride, which could turn lead into a car hijacking, to a place. I told him that I was late for work. As I drove off, the MF had the audacity to tell me that he didn’t rob me

Got assaulted at a BART station. I was in line with the regulars waiting for a bus. I guy walks up and ask one of the regular bus riders to borrow her phone, kinda bothering her. I went up and asked if everything ok and the guy punched me in the face and took off running. I went and got first aid, others reported it to the BART police. They put me in a cop car while they were locating the suspect. Found him, then they asked me to identify him. Went to court to testify a few months later. Find out the guy was banned from BART properties for prior crimes. What a looser. I ended up with a black eye.

Witnessed a few, a yute stole a tool box from Lowes, casually walked to the door, and ran like a bat outta ‘ahem’ after the security guard moved toward him, saw a guy slam into an auto and immediately u-turned and sped off, witnessed (sort of, didn’t see him actually shot, he was maybe 10 yards away, he ran by me just after holding his gut) a guy get shot.

Victim of: Has my bike stolen from garage, and my car rifled through (I neglected to lock it, lost a few CDs and a cheap computer bag).

Yep was in Lucky at Alberta & Clayton Rd when a POS came running at my wife full speed with a cart full of alcohol & he almost ran over her. I chased the fine young scholar & on his way out he assaulted a clerk for trying to stop him. I caught him right before he was trying to get into his car where his girl was waiting. He wasn’t much of a problem but the girl let their dog out of the car to help the POS on the ground. I kicked the crap out of both the dude & his dog. They were arrested & taken into custody shortly after the incident. I was not sited for any violation since they almost ran over my wife & they released their dog to attack me. I was lucky given the current environment but it was so satisfying to say the least. I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.

Well done! Back before criminals came first, I remember seeing loss prevention guys mix it up with dirt bags in the Arden mall parking lot. They’d detain them, copy the video from the parking lot cameras. and wait for law enforcement. Efficient.

Good for you, BDML. I’d like to think I would do the same, but having not been in the situation, who knows, but you, you are a good man!

Being in the alarm and security business, I’ve helped many people get the video evidence over to authorities. I’m chiming in here because that used to work several years back. The police would get face shots, sometimes license plates, and arrest and prosecute, and often property was recovered. Today, video is only a souvenir to share with friends of all your stuff leaving. New AI technology now offers full video monitoring and perimeter guard analytics to stop would be intruders from gaining entry. You can find lots of info on YouTube about the new technologies available now. Be safe out there, be proactive, and make your property the least convenient for burglary. Lights, lights and more lights. Thieves HATE light!

every single time I go to the gas station (and the store lately) along with everyone else

Every single week I see people stealing from Safeway as I do my grocery shopping. Multiple people in the roughly 30 minutes I am there. They just walk out the door. Sometimes the guard follows them, but after they walk off the lot, they can’t do anything. Some guards have given it a good try, but most criminals know they can just walk away.

I’ve seen it all and done many things to suspects, except shooting one.

Firestone 11R

I was assaulted in my driveway by 2 thieves trying to steal the catalytic converter on my truck. I happened to have a six foot aluminum pole handy that I swung at each of them. In the scuffle I was pepper sprayed and hit with a 2×4 and attacked with a Sawsal. They didn’t get the converter and I only had minor injuries.

Back in the mid-70s at the old Fry’s Food Store on Willow Pass Rd. three people robbed the store. I was getting checked out as it happened. One of the robbers had a Nixon mask on that came to the checkout stand I was at. I grabbed my glass bottle of Wesson Oil, he saw me grab it and pointed a S&W .38 pistol about a foot from my face, I let go of the bottle pretty quick. It was a “puckering” moment for sure. The two men and woman were caught a couple of nights later at a grocery store in Martinez. I bought my first handgun shortly after that happened.
