Police at the Military Ocean Terminal Concord (MOTCO) are investigating the discovery of a human body on their property.
The body was located on Monday afternoon on MOTCO property, near the end of Denkinger Rd. behind Crestwood Circle.
“The Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division is aware of this incident and working with local authorities. No additional information can be provided at this time as there is an investigation,” according to the Army.
We’re hearing the body appeared to have been there for several weeks, and although it hasn’t been confirmed by the Army, the likely cause of death is a drug overdose.
The man has been identified as a local homeless resident. His identity hasn’t been released.
…another overdose… no surprise given location 🙁
Once development starts in earnest, that probably won’t be the only remains found out there.
If they find any old Native American remains all development will stop cold.
Not exactly true.
.
If human remains are found, work stops around the immediate area (not the entire project) and the coroner is called. If the coroner believes the remains are Native, then a local authorized Indian rep will take custody of the remains for internment elsewhere.
.
The game sorta changes with physical archaeological artifacts like pottery, tools, etc.
.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t there a Native American village discovered on Concord Naval Weapons Station property across the street from Pixie Playland where the spring is?
