Flu Season Prompts Health Advice From County Officials Around The Bay Area

Public health officials in the Bay Area and surrounding counties are reminding people to stay safe this holiday season by following some basic medical advice.

As flu season settles in for the winter months and the spread of respiratory viruses, including COVID-19, increases, people are being urged to get vaccinated against COVID, the flu and RSV.

Health officers are recommending that everyone ages 6 months old and older get an updated COVID vaccine and kids 6 months to 4 years old, along with immunocompromised people who have never been vaccinated, are recommended to get additional doses.

People without insurance or whose insurance does not cover the vaccine can get one for free by visiting www.vaccines.gov.

Also, everyone 6 months old and older should get a flu shot every year, while people over 60 and people who are 32 to 36 weeks pregnant should get the RSV vaccine.

Health officers are also urging people who are sick to stay home from work and school and to test themselves for COVID.

Free COVID tests are available at www.covid.gov/tests.

If someone does test positive for COVID, treatments are available and people should consult their doctor or visit www.covid19.ca.gov/treatment.

Health officials are also reminding people that wearing a good mask, such as a KF94, KN95 or N95, while indoors in public places can prevent infection from COVID, flu, RSV and other respiratory viruses.

Also, virus spread can be reduced by improving ventilation, like for example by turning on HVAC systems, using a portable HEPA filter, pointing fans out open windows or by opening doors and windows.

The heath reminders were sent out Thursday by the public health officers from Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey, Napa, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Solano and Sonoma counties and the city of Berkeley.

Should I stay hydrated, eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly?

Yes. And make sure you get regular tune-ups, and keep your tires inflated.

And by all means… KICK THE Mrna TO THE CURB.

and always carry a dime in your pocket

And spread salt at the doorstep. 🧛‍♂️

That would be too easy. Life has to be difficult and hazardous.

I take everything the Health Department, HHS, CDC, FDA, and World Health Organization says with a ‘grain of salt’ mentality!

Sounds like you give you them more crediblity than I do.

But what about the white lung? No mask mandate?

Yawn.🥱

What. no draconian closing of businesses and unconstitutional closing of churches.
Oh that’s right, . . . . . . . . . . it’s an election year.

Regarding masks and air filters:

I got covid a year ago, finally. I texted my room mate to give a heads up. They had to come home and spend the night at the place, so I went ahead and got what I needed out of the kitchen, wore a mask (even though I thought they did nothing, just to make sure), wiped everything down with clorox wipes, opened the sliding door with the screen closed, then turned on all the ceiling fans. I went into my bedroom, closed the door and stuffed a towel under the door gap, then stayed in there until my room mate came and left.

They still got covid three days later.

By the way, I had the first two Pfizer shots, they did not. I had more of a fever and was sicker a couple days longer than they were. We are the same age.

This is all theater, and the health agencies are just blowing up their credibility by pretending otherwise. Maybe they can solve the “public health crisis” of racism instead.

This is why you don’t get vaccinated.

No, this is why you realize that everyone has a different immune system. The vaccinated person may have not have as strong of an immune system as the other person. The vaccines prevented him from ending up in the hospital, which is what it’s designed to do. Nobody ever said the shots would stop someone from getting COVID entirely. The unvaccinated person may just have a stronger immune system naturally. Is he younger, weighs less, etc)?

“Prevented from ending up in the hospital.” This is called a counterfactual. Impossible to prove or disprove, but par for the course with “The Science” these days.

And yes, a lot of people said it would prevent infection and stop transmission, including president dementia. Turns out they never even tested that during trials, they just claimed it out of thin air

I’ll give some grace in that Omicron was quite different from the strain the mRNA shots were designed for. But I watched it rip through my place of work (hundred plus employees) and zero people got seriously sick, vaxxed or not.

Also, my room mate is the same age and general health and fitness.

Nixie – You do realize that this is complete government control. They never tested the vaccine. A true test on the vaccine is at least 10 years. Everyone who took the vaccine is a guinea pig (just what the government wants from you). Congratulations, 5 stars for you!

Oh yes they did. They all said it on video for eternity they said it. Then you needed a second shot to prevent COVID HOAX infection. Then all the sudden it didn’t work at all. You’re a liar, you lie. It was most definitely said by anyone and everyone sponsored by pfizer.

They?

Keeping identities vague, not pronoun pandering.

Fear was used to drive the pandemic. Fear weakens people’s immune system. It left many with PTSD with some who behave a little off these days. There is a lot of ongoing research about that. And given that some on this forum have asked what ever happened to the flu during that time? Didn’t hear much about it then did we?

BTW, Iceland has banned Covid mRNA shots. They had quite a conference there in October with some good speakers. Video well worth a watch:

Well if the next pandemic is just a little bit deadlier, there’s going to be plenty of room on the roads and freeways. Thank you. 🙃
