Rain is arriving to the Bay Area, and lots of it, as the region’s first wet season rain event rolls in next week.
The National Weather Service said Friday forecasters expect widespread moderate to heavy rain throughout next week in many parts of the region, with potential accumulations of up to 2 inches. They added that coastal mountains will be receiving more of the precipitation.
Light rain will start in the North Bay on Monday and may linger through Saturday next week, but the core of the event will be Tuesday through Friday, the weather service said.
While the exact timing and amount are still subject to change, forecasters said it is increasingly likely that daily rain totals will exceed an inch across most of the Bay Area and Central Coast throughout next week.
The weather service warned residents and motorists to expect slick roads and longer than normal commutes as ponding of water on roadways becomes a road hazard due to the rains.
Reminder!
1. Clean / clear your roof gutters & downspouts. Install leaders or splash blocks to direct water away from the foundation.
2. Trim trees and any dead branches before they become projectiles
3. Mow your lawn & rake leaves one last time
4. Stow outdoor furniture and garden tools.
5. Change the windshield wipers blades! You’ll be surprised how fast they sell out!
.
And keep your tires inflated
Including the spare! .
.
Btw, some vehicles no longer have spare tires and instead have a repair kit with a tire inflator (canister or pump). These include most Teslas and Porsche vehicles.
.
I’ll believe it when I see it!
One thing for sure, there’s not going to be a crazy fire season this year like they kept scaring us about. Don’t have something to blame on climate change either.
Rain I don’t mind but high wind I do. And neighbors haven’t trimmed trees that were needed mainly due to the extreme rise of costs to do so. One could buy a new car for the cost of work of some of those.
Media news says only a “1” on a scale of 1 – 5 for 3 days Tues – Thurs…. given their track record I’d day half that.
