The Martinez Refining Company has informed the City of Martinez of the following: “Planned, intermittent flaring could occur at its Martinez Refinery during the next several days as part of a maintenance project. Flaring is part of refinery’s safety systems to safely manage excess gases through efficient, effective combustion. Martinez Guy: yes thats why your lawn looks like hell. Its more than just flaring. The pollutants released are incredible. We gotta move from here. It is so bad, especially when it is rainy or overcast. It is as if they think we cannot distinguish between brown stinky smog and cloud cover… or greenish stinky smog and tulle fog.
