ALERT: Vehicle Collision Blocking Roadway On Ygnacio

How do you get into a collision at Ygnacio and Lennon? You have to work at that one.

Some commenters must not have driven westbound YVR in the morning; let me paint you a picture.

Traffic backs up at the light at Oak Grove, since Walnut Creek is metering traffic. When the light turns green, it’s drag-strip time. The frustrated drivers have a few blocks free from traffic, thanks to the city of Walnut Creek, and the first wave will be doing 5-10 mph over the limit by the time they hit Wiget (the first cross street).

Meanwhile, others in the backup have used the (faster moving) right turn lane at Oak Grove to ‘leak’ around the backup by going down Shadelands and popping back onto YVR at Wiget or Lennon.

Those drivers will be trying to squeeze back onto YVR, and the impatient ones (and EVERYBODY is impatient at this point) can mis-gauge one of the rockets coming down YVR from Oak Grove.

Of course, at Bancroft it all becomes a crawl again.
