Crews are putting a fence around the old Claim Jumper building on Diamond Blvd. in Concord today.

The building will soon be demolished and a new Chick-fil-A will be built.

Agree, Aunt Barbara!
( though I’m tempted to add Olive Garden:)

Olive Garden quality has gone down so much in the last few years im glad they never came to Concord, still maybe eat there once a year but its not as good.

I hope Concord’s review process included a detailed analysis of traffic flows and drive-thru queues. It’s reasonable to assume that the street intersections and onsite aisles will be total clusterf**ks for at least a few months.

Yeah, WC’s CFA on N Main can be a challenge sometimes with cars spilling over into the street and that location has more room.

Better location than right on Willow Pass Road, but not much. The traffic is bad already.

Would those be same people that through a starbucks
at Clayton Rd. and Treat was a great idea ? ? ?

I’d rather a Bojangles or a Popeyes.

Stupid. If you think Starbucks has bad traffic on Treat wait till this monstrosity takes over.

OMG we don’t need another Chick-fil-A

Apparently Chick-fil-A’s market demand analysis differs from your emotion-based ass-essment.

The last I’ve been at that shopping center which was more than a decade ago (before Trader Joe’s moved) there was plenty of parking around Claim Jumper which could be utilized for drive thru. Did that all disappear?

Traffic on the street is a nightmare because Veranda is next to it. Sometimes it takes so long to get to Panera that I just give up. Things have changed drastically in that area in 10 years!

I wonder what building will be finished first Chick-fil-A or Dutch Bros. Coffee on Clayton Rd.

This will bring money and jobs to our local economy. This is great news!
Like others said, they really need to have the drive thru situation locked down so it doesn’t back up … That area can be a nightmare, ESPECIALLY during the holidays.

Sure took long enough… it’ll be crazy till the buzz dies down

Isn’t this site only about a mile or two from the next nearest CFA?

Google Earth says 3.3 mi… give or take. Although, I will point out that Starbucks has CFA beat. There’s a Starbucks in Park N Shop, next to T-Mobile, about 1/4 mile up Willow Pass is the Starbucks at Todos Santos Plaza, and there’s a Starbucks inside the Safeway on Willow Pass Rd, under the Bart Tracks.

nope… Google Maps say’s 3.9 miles. Still…. that’s pretty close, even for outrageously popular restaurants!

Nearest CFA is next to 24 Hour Fitness on North Main in Walnut Creek.

Can’t wait for Chick.

One trough replaces another
If blindfolded and ordered fried chicken from CFA and CJ, most couldn’t tell the difference

And people, parking is a problem everywhere , freeways more crowded, stores, restaurants etc
Area is over populated, more drivers, get used to it or get out, numbers won’t drop that’s for sure.

Chick Filet is so overblown. It is unbelievable how dumb—yes dumb–people are related to certain fast food joints.

Never had it. Bet it tastes like chicken.

I stopped and got a sandwich in the Walnut Creek place. It didn’t seem like it was worth the wait because of all the traffic out to the street. So I am figuring I ordered the wrong thing. So what is the thing to order there? Somebody?

Trick is, order ahead, via app or online….Drive up, park along curb (don’t drive into that parking lot). Smooth walk in thru double doors, and your order should be on the table to your right. usually runs like a machine..in & out 5-6 mins. Usually…lol
It’s damn good.
But no chicken…NO CHICKEN is wait in that line 45 mins good lol. You can walk thru those doors til 9:59pm and order. They don’t close early.

You didn’t say what to order. There must be something there that draws a crowd.

Tastes are subjective and palates differ. You got food there and you weren’t impressed. Some people are. Full stop.

Sorry the request was too difficult.

Claim Jumper hadn’t been consistently good in years. Hemorrhaging cash even BEFORE covid
Hat’s off to ’em, they tried, but the #’s just weren’t there. Their kickass happy hour deals towards the end will be missed.
Was my fav spot for years back in the day.

Also, the new CFA location will almost assuredly even out the absolute nightmare traffic there on N.Main.
Half those cars & dashers are headed towards Concord & beyond…there’s no chance this won’t help.
I can hear the gym members cheering already lol.
Delivery couriers (like me) too.

I don’t do drive-throughs. I prefer to park and walk inside to order. But I have noticed that Chick-fil-A does a much better job of controlling the lanes and keeping traffic moving than most all other restaurants.

This area needs a larger family restaurant like Claim Jumper or Marie Calendars. A diverse menu and spacious seating etc. Lazy Dog is subpar in my opinion. Too many small restaurants in this area. I miss the days of bringing the kids to Claim Jumper. They weighed them and charged 5 cents a pound. Massive chicken strips and fries, big desserts.

As usual, concord is late to the party. Nobody wants woke chicken sandwiches anymore.

This sucks. The traffic will be a nightmare. Also that restaurant uses tons of MSG in their food. So gross. Boo.
