Contra Costa Couple Charged With Murder, Torture In Death Of 2-Year-Old Child

A couple caring for a 2-year-old were charged Thursday with murder, child abuse and torture after telling authorities the child drowned in a bathtub Monday in Rodeo.

Prosecutors said Thursday the child didn’t die by drowning but rather from prolonged abuse. The couple also allegedly abused a second child.

The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office charged 22-year-old Destiny Deboe and 21-year-old Tyshawn Haywood with murder, child abuse resulting in death, and torture in the death of a toddler.

Both were still in custody Thursday afternoon in the Martinez Detention Facility awaiting their arraignment, in lieu of $1.07 million bail.

Prosecutors said in a statement that at approximately 8:50 p.m. Monday, Contra Costa County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched after receiving a report of a 2-year-old child drowning in a bathtub.

Emergency personnel arrived and began life-saving measures on the child, who was transported to a hospital but was later pronounced dead.

Sheriff’s Office investigators determined the child did not die from drowning but rather from injuries sustained from prolonged abuse. They also said a second child in the care of the couple suffered life-threatening injuries resulting from abuse, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

“The loss of a young life is a tragedy that deeply impacts us all. Our thoughts and sympathies go out to the family and loved ones of the victim during this incredibly difficult time,” said Contra Costa County District Attorney Diana Becton. “We are committed to seeking justice and holding those responsible accountable for their actions.”

.
Very sad.
.
“Tyshawn” and “Destiny” should be convicted of murder, sentenced to death, and euthanized by lethal injection. This kind of human filth no longer have the right to live among us.

Send them to prison and let prison justice do what’s right.

Thoughts and prays for the mental health of all the first responders who had to deal with this tragedy. They will be forever scarred.

This just makes me so incredibly sad. I will never understand how another human being (especially parents) can harm an innocent baby. Children are a gift from God and should be treated (loved) as such.

These people should have already been in an insane asylum. They should never see the light of day again. You never know who is walking amongst us.

Unfortunately, this State is dismantling death row. If only California were to finally execute those who have been on death row for several decades, there would be plenty of room for new criminals to call prison their new home.
RIP precious child.

Horrific. RIP precious child. No child should ever have to endure abuse. . May the second child be placed in a loving and caring home. The two adults deserve to be punished to the full extent of the law as quickly as possible.

Or, they are just drug addled A-holes with no sense of decency. Andy Wilpot has a pretty good punishment in mind.

They’ll plead insanity and receive a sentence of some sort. Then a few years in, a committee of psychologists will suggest they are model inmates, and let them out early. It will never occur to these “professionals” that the model inmates were only well behaved because there weren’t any toddlers available to abuse while incarcerated.

General population in Jail or State Prison,
WILL take out the trash. (pack ’em a chute)

There is not a warm enough place in HELL for them.

There is nothing lower than someone who harms children.

I believe these two were caught in Concord the day before yesterday.

The police gave them better treatment than they gave their children.

There are no punishments too harsh for those two horrible people.

We seriously need to bring back the Lynch mob. Justice is no longer being served anywhere. We now live in the wild west.

I’m more surprised they have to post bail.

I used to work for a local subsidized child care agency (that interfaced with CPS).

The stuff I saw kept me up at night / and I had to quit.

We give better care to dogs and cats in the 9 County Bay Area Region.

I don’t know the “solution” to these issues – (and I myself suffered through an abusive childhood).

People who beat up on kids should be rounded up (and put into a re-education camp).

Children are unable to advocate for themselves – and oftentimes “hide” the abuse – but it leaves LIFELONG scars and contributes to CPTSD.

Not all child abuse victims will repeat the abuse.

It stopped with me – but I cannot work in that field.

We need a ” Star Chamber ” for special cases like this, so evil & outrageous it demands expedited action.
Insane or not doesn’t matter.
We shoot rabid animals, it isn’t their fault they are sick but we put them down right away as a matter of public safety just the same.

@EB – OK, I will concede the election was NOT stolen if you can give me one reasonable explanation why on Oct. 21, 2020 were 288,000 completed election ballots shipped on a USPS contract truck from Bethpage, N.Y., to Lancaster, Pa., two weeks before Election Day and the trailer disappeared overnight from the postal facility.
It is not a hoax, it has been confirmed by the USPS that this account is absolutely TRUE.
Are we to believe that somehow, for some reason, 288,000 PA. residents would have mailed in their ballots from N.Y. ? and all on the same day two weeks before the election?

FRAUD!
