Walnut Creek Police interrupted a burglary in progress this morning, and are investigating what took place that resulted in damage to a store at Broadway Plaza.
The following information is from the Walnut Creek Police Dept.:
Shortly before 4:30 am, Walnut Creek Police Dispatch received multiple 911 calls of an incident at the Louis Vuitton store located at 1211 Broadway Plaza.
Within one minute, a Walnut Creek Police Officer was on the scene and observed approximately 15 suspects associated with four vehicles attempting to burglarize the store.
Upon the officer’s arrival, the suspects fled in several directions. Other responding officers saw an involved suspect vehicle fleeing westbound on Highway 24 at a high rate of speed. Officers pursued the vehicle and ultimately terminated the pursuit near Orinda due to public safety concerns.
Officers recovered a black 2017 Land Rover which was left in front of the store and later determined to be stolen out of Sacramento.
It appears the Land Rover was used to gain access to the store by crashing into the window. The Land Rover was impounded for evidence.
The value of the loss and damage to the store is unknown at this time.
The Police Department’s Investigations Bureau is in the process of gathering surveillance footage and is actively following up on investigative leads.
No additional information is available at this time.
All high value targets. Engage at will.
Gotta love it. At this point, instead of hoping that the WC city council and WCPD take action to stop this, I hope it just goes to hell and WC turns into Oakland. Let’s see store burglaries, muggings, side shows, etc…every night of the week.
When you get tolerance City councils. This kind of activity does follow! Oakland has all but shackled their police department. It was just released that over 10,000 cars have been stolen in Oakland so far this year, many other than used for criminal activity! This is why my insurance agent said my out of state auto insurer was not renewing my policy… because they’re losing greatly in the California market because of all the auto burglaries and thefts that are allowed to go on unabated. The more liberal that Walnut Creek has become in the last few years, the more this kind of activity is greatly increased.
I agree completely. I’m sick of this WC city council and am ready for them to reap what they have sown.
These high end stores have become attractive nusuinces. Look at downtown SF.
If they would have shot them they wouldn’t have escaped. They couldn’t contact Oakland police to get them after the tunnel They had a chance and blew it.
What!? How!? What is happening!? Crime happening in our area!? At a high end store? Impossible!
Something like that has NEVER happened before in our community. This is incomprehensible and inconceivable. I’m truly shocked!
Stay classy Bay area. Stolen cars shoplifiting in walnut creek. Dont these criminals ever get caught and jailed. Or do they give them a slap on the wrist. Sad.
.
Mayor Thao’s finest residents are looking for better retail targets than Oakland has.
.
Same old story. Certain demographic of miscreants reeking havoc in downtown Walnut Creek and using stolen cars to ply their evil trade and then fleeing westbound on highway 24. Gee, I wonder where they were headed? I find the whole situation disgusting and maddening.
Oh! But they are all so nice and friendly and clean-cut in all the TV commercials!?!? 😉
“Officers pursued the vehicle and ultimately terminated the pursuit near Orinda due to public safety concerns”.
My question is, who is on the road at that hour that the PD has to call off the chase with these criminals?
Unbelievable.
Gotta thank all our hard working law enforcement though!
Each time I read these I get more disgusted. No doubt some of these fine upstanding citizens have been caught and released in the passed for this same crap. Complete failure by Mickey Mouse officials. I’d say take out loui v and put in a dollar store, but they’re robbing those to. IDK
stereotypical, nothing to see here, make America a toilet again type of people.
I wonder how much more theft, damage to store fronts, and crime in general will the residents of Walnut Creek allow before consider voting for a District Attorney tough on crime, a State Attorney General tough on crime and a Governor who is tough on crime instead of soy boys and activists?
Nothing will change until guilt ridden white voters become victims of their own cowardness.
Being tough on crime seems to mean you are a Republican which cowards feel is worse than being a criminal.
Some of us even outwardly questioned the city on opening the street again….. they’re asking for it…. wonder if the city gets it yet…. back and forth threw the tunnel – no surprise… there’s got to be some video – transparency please
Remember in The Magnificent Seven when Yul Brynner tells the bad guys, “The walls aren’t to keep you out, they are to keep you in”.
It’s time to plan ahead and stop these criminal activities.
And that would require city leaders, and voters, to grow a spine. Don’t hold your breath.
Apparently, they haven’t been victims yet.
Newest trick in the book : Drive crazy and police will stop chasing you. That’s why they did it at 4am with morning commute instead of 2 in the morning when everyone is sleeping.
Democrats brag about China Joes job creation.
Here’s an area where he has succeeded(in a very bad way) in doing just that: Enabling and encouraging criminals to live a life of crime.
Why work when you can LOOT ? ? ?
There’s a reason they come to CoCo county, if caught, what’s DA gonna do about it?
Invite them to dinner. Never know when just the right one will be the family’s new in-law.
Someone explain to me why we have any stores at all anymore?
Saturate downtown with police now! 24-7
agree TB – but won’t happen …. they won’t like the “look” of such LE presence.. you know the image (which is so tarnished many won’t even trust going to downtown WC anymore)
Feral humanoids…..moral compass broken. This will continue until harsh penalties are applied. This is not rocket science, but powers at be seem to be clueless.
Maybe put a remotely operated net on west bound 24. It would pay for itself in no time.
The question is… After all the problems at Broadway Plaza ,why would City Council let them open a Louis Vitton and Chanel store? Are they all Daft?
No one needs high end anymore, except Gavin’s entitled partner and Looters
These low lifes that come in to rob have Walnut Creek all figured out. They stalk the place for a while to see the patterns and know everyone lets their guard down in a few months after a big heist.
I am ashamed of our greedy City..
So instead of jailing criminals you think the city should acquiesce to the criminals. Sorry Auntie I don’t agree.
I’m not shocked that the city council would want LV and Chanel here, but I am shocked that those stores would come here, considering the history of looting and smash and grabs with no prosecution of the perps.
Just wait until the “high-end” bowling alley opens up. That should be good times in the Creek.
Get it right, these are not Looters these are CRIMINALS.
