B) Always my favorite while Sunday potroast dinners would leave me on the couch afterward. Too heavy.

Both but depends on how cooked.

Both, but I eat more pork then beef. I grew up eating a lot of pork, it was cheaper than beef, and the Danish pork is quite good. My mother would make breaded pork chops and they would often be served with carrots, leeks, small white potatoes, call coated with butter and fresh parsley, all things my dad grew. Pork tenderloin is also very popular in Denmark, it would often be stuffed with apples and prunes, served with potatoes and brown gravy. When cook pork chop, pork stew, pork chili, and pork with a curry sauce.

Who’s Scott Walker, you ask? He’s this genius: https://youtu.be/eKtZf62BQzM
I had mentioned him as a favorite singer when I took a cool drink at Watercooler this week. I found some heretofore-unknown-to-me musical Faberge Eggs in there. Thanks Mayor. Walker also did “The sun ain’t gonna shine anymore”

Can we please talk about the cluster-f that is the relining of Concord Blvd?!?! What an absolute nightmare it all is…

Can you, or anyone, please tell me where exactly in Concord Blvd. I drove by BARF and didn’t see anything different. The only work that I came across is the work they are doing close to Sam’s Club.

It’s going east eastbound starting at the BART tracks and going down to about Dekinger. It’s been a nightmare getting home during commute hours and pushes gridlock past Galindo (more than usual)

Thank you for your answer. I see where you are talking about. Last time I was in that area I only went through a small section of Concord Blvd and there was no traffic, but, there was another time before that that I noticed how Concord Blvd, Willow Pass, and Clayton Rd were backed up. I sympathize with all of you who have to commute that way.

Book report: The Girls From Planet 5, Richard Wilson,1955. They came down but not landing in New Jersey, smooth talk Madam President in Washington DC, and then land in Texas. There are beautiful alien women, the Crones that rule them, and a corkscrew thing hanging over their heads that translates for them. Oh yes, USA is ruled by duly elected women except in Texas. Who says Sci Fi has to be serious? Enjoy the interaction between them all.

I’ll have to check with a friend for the name of the write who wrote some very humorous sci-fi in the 1980s and that I read.
.
Not a book but based on a book is the movie “Captive State” which ought to resonate with our current times. It was based on the earlier movie “Army of Shadows” with was based on the 1943 book of the same name. “Captive State” stars John Goodman and Vera Farmiga. In it the enemy is aliens who have taken over earth. The screenplay also took ideas from the earlier film “Battle of Algiers”.

Last night I was driving east on 24. When I got to the point where Mt Diablo can be seen I was blown away by the huge moon rising from behind the mountain. That had to be the largest looking view of the moon I have ever seen. It looked like if you were up on Mt Diablo you could hit with a rock.

Harvest Moon!

Could “touch” it from my beautiful and majestic Sierra

@RICHARDOH — That’s just a remarkable view of the mountain and I can imagine that seeing it with a supermoon rising over it is really impressive.

Too bad it’s way too dangerous a spot to pull over and take a photo. However, on Trinity at the end of Civic Dr., a little further up across California Blvd, you can get that view, pull over safely, park, and take a photo.

Not sure if I will ever have the timing to see that again.

Boy, our boys are really sucking eggs in Italy at Ryder Cup … sigh

I had a perfect view from my living room.

I was wondering how many people could see the top of Diablo from their homes. That would be cool. Unfortunately all the trees in the neighbor block the view from our house. I have to go out to the street to see it. East Bay Times had a picture of the moon today.

What do all those new huge green markings on the streets mean? Different shapes, different sizes, different places…I’m confused

@CURIOUS AND CONFUSED

It’s visual OVELOAD!

It’s graffiti for Traffic Engineers!

They are for cyclists after they take away our cars.

Do you think people are lacking common sense and common courtesy nowadays?

I note that many people’s behavior has become different post pandemic. Most likely many have been effected by PTSD. Researchers have noted this too and I’m not surprised because it was probably the goal of the thing. People behave awkward with situations they wouldn’t have been bothered at before. Some have noted that many are getting more and more testy. I always enjoy meeting people who are friendly and normal acting which give probably a cue. Fortunately there are more than I would have expected in this county.

Can someone explain what the area is for between the curb and the new parking spaces at Todos Santos on Grant? That block is so confusing. Who the heck designed that mess and who approved it?

Believe you a seeing the ‘New’ lane(s) for cyclist.
You are correct, … the way it’s designed is confusing.

Concord High’s marching band is walking around the Dana Estates area, stand outside and give them our support!

One time …at band camp …

Who remembers these ?
Could pile in the kids and camping stuff . . . .
https://dailytimewaster.blogspot.com/2023/10/classic_2.html

@Original G
I remember it well………sat in the back seat of a ’60s Colony Park, turquoise with wood siding. Lots of camping trips to Shasta, Trinity, and Whiskeytown. Great times.

My Dad always drove Station Wagons. As a kid we went camping and skiing and to the drive in movies. Once in high school I used to borrow his wagon to go to the drive in. I found it amusing he never asked any questions.

Some of life’s unanswered questions.

Mid-Week Pick One:
.
A) Necchi
B) Singer
C) Huh?

1
1

@S….”B”….Never saw any other brand in my family. I learned to load bobbins and load thread through Singer machines as a 12 or 13 year old. Mama said if I wanted to peg my Levis that I’d have to learn to do it myself, so after many broken needles I learned to use a sewing machine. It came in handy later in life to reupholster furniture and car seats.

@S – Another good mid-weeker. B)
– Only brand in my family also, and good for your Mama. 🙂

Singer — still got it and it still works

Bowing my head in shame; I was to pick “A”, because that’s what I though Mom had. Older sister says nope; it was a White. Remembers when it was bought at Simons.

Anyway, the inspiration for this Pick One came from cleaning the den last week. I came across the little sewing machine my Grandmother-In-Law bought in the ’50’s to make clothes for all the grandkids: It is fully intact and works well: I hope the link posts ok… Just a picture; not the same I have….

Taylor Swift apparently writes songs about her past relationships.
.
She kinda bashes on her exes.
.
But maybe her men weren’t the problem.
.
Maybe it’s her.

she is the common factor

I went shopping at Food Maxx on Clayton Rd. on Wed. The world’s biggest NYC sewer rat ran across the aisle and disappeared under the shelves. Reported it to the cashier who could have really cared less.
