It is not just Western medicine that wants us as lifelong customers. Look at how the United States is built and how it is not conducive to a healthy lifestyle.

Kaiser, they have really gone down hill over the past several years but I have never had anything else. I haven’t worked up the courage to switch.

Kaiser Permanente.

The less we interact with them, the better.
.
Unlike the weak, we don’t seek medical attention for sniffles, minor sprains, acute fevers, minor cuts, and the like.
.
It’s gotta be a lingering ailment or “serious” condition before we seek a medical professional. And my cousin is a local RN so we’re covered for the most part.

I won’t mention her name, but I am happy with her. I prefer a female MD over a male MD because it’s been my experience that most women doctors can be more empathetic and caring than their male counterparts. That’s not to say there aren’t any empathetic and caring male doctors, because there are, but women tend to have that maternal instinct, and that’s what separates them from the men.
A female doctor is likely to spend more time with her patients and ask questions about their social circumstances and habits that may affect their health. They are also more likely to collaborate with their colleagues and specialists, and provide more preventive care.

Kaiser and Medicare A and B since 2018. With Medical Retirement. I like Kaiser. Low cost for me. Don’t like to have to get referrals, so when I don’t want to I use my Kaiser, I find a Doctor under Medicare, deductible is low to meet and medical is all covered for me. Kaiser is not tops for Mental Health Services, aka..Therapy. For me, it’s very important to seek that, and will thru Medicare.

We have Kaiser. I am happy with all of their people but my problem is they have too many subscribers and getting appointments or treatment takes forever. I keep threatening myself about trying a new plan but never do. Suppose you need to see a specialist for one thing or the other. First you have to see your regular doctor. That could take two weeks. He allows the specialist visit and that takes three weeks. So you wait five weeks in total. It never used to be that way a few years back.

Been with Kaiser for most of my working years. Still with them and I don’t plan to change. I added Senior Advantage and don’t plan to change that either.
I get my healthcare from the Veterans Administration. I can’t complain about my care, and I think the Nashville VA benefits from its proximity to Vanderbilt. Nevertheless, I don’t schedule other activities on any day I have a VA appointment.

The VA in Martinez, San Francisco, and Mather AFB are my absolute last resort. I have Medicare and TRI-CARE for Life so I just go to John Muir for all my important medical needs and it cost me nothing. I will never go to the VA in S.F. (Fort Miley ), butchers and incompetent morons. I have a 100% disability rating from the VA so I have many options.

Medicare and TriCare for Life, so I can go anywhere I want. I have providers with John Muir, Sutter Health, and Stanford Health. I’m loyal as long as they listen and communicate, provide excellent care, don’t try to gaslight me or try to convince me to do something I don’t want to do (like get a Covid booster). It’s a business relationship, they are not my friends.

Northern California (Martinez) VA Healthcare is where I go for outpatient services. They are great healthcare professionals.
If you want great surgeons go to Palo Alto VA Hospital for the procedure. The doctors/surgeons are residents and doctors from Stanford University (hospital), they are one of the top elite healthcare facilities in the world.
I have always been treated very well at any VA Administration Medical Facility.

Kaiser. Been with them for many years. Raised a family with them. Plan to stick with them. Always gotten good care with them, but like any system, you have to know how to work it.
I like knowing I can always contact them by phone in an emergency for advice and get an appointment to see a doc or NP if needed, often the same day. I like not having to deal with insurance companies. I like the coordination of care that comes with the doctors, insurance arm, hospital, pharmacy, lab, etc all working together. Kaiser even referred us outside of Kaiser for treatment and the coordination between Kaiser and the other entity was seamless. It just works.

Spent 31 years as a paramedic in Contra Costa County. My observations were that the entire healthcare system here is irretrievably broken. The whole system is set up around keeping you sick and keeping you as a longtime customer. The diet that most of us eat is so incredibly toxic that it is a contributing factor to why we feel sick all the time. I’m supposed to go to the doctor for a check up. I had my yearly blood panels last week. Now they want to set me up with multiple scans and appointments at different specialists. Everyone needs to make money.
I’m not a proponent of socialism by any means, but I think that the healthcare system in country such as France and Canada would probably be a better option than what we have now. But I can’t imagine going to the doctor and it being like the DMV. Which I imagine it would be.
American Citizen,
I have lots of family in Canada and their health care is great. The one thing they do not push is heroic measures on terminal patients like what happens here. Doctors here see a person with excellent insurance and push for care that will not work because the can get the mighty holla holla dolla dolla.
And for those that are against “socialized medicine” and have Kaiser guess what? You already have “socialized medicine”.
I lived in Japan for 10 years … every medical procedure has a set price … reasonable … so wether you are in Tokyo or in a super rural clinic … the price is the same … and if you consider Okinawa, more people live beyond 100 there than anywhere on the planet … Okinawa is a “Blue Zone” … Greece, Italy and Loma Linda also have Blue Zones if I recall

Dump my county retiree coverage for AARP Medicate supplement through United Health. It’s the best. After Medicare my portion of the premium is $310, which includes pharmacy, vision and hearing, very low copays ($20) for office visits and specialist, $7 per perscription copay and ZERO copay for emergencies, hospitalization and cancer/cardiac drugs (if I ever need them). Best part is I can go to any doctor or hospital I choose.
I’ve kept my Delta Dental with the county but going with United Health is one f the best decisions I’ve made

I’ve had Kaiser most of my life. Been happy with them for the most part. Ran into a couple of bad doctors, easy enough to choose a new one. I recently moved to Nevada. There is no Kaiser in Nevada. I’m very nervous about switching my care.

I have Kaiser. Years ago I broke my ankle. At the time, I had insurance through Sutter Health and had to use Sutter Health doctors (being careful they were in the right doctors’ group) and approved test facilities. I had to go all over the San Francisco getting pre-op tests (there was no central location), plus trying to find a surgeon on my own because I couldn’t get through to my primary to get a referral. It worked out in the end, but was a big, unnecessary hassle. After that experience, I said when I retired I would go on Kaiser. Years later I broke my wrist and getting it taken care of was so much easier with Kaiser. Everything was done in one building; no running around. So far I’ve never had a problem getting an appointment.
