Quality and quantity. Too many companies are making their products cheaper and offering less of their product in order to keep their prices low. There’s even a word for it, “shrinkflation.” I’d rather see them raise their prices accordingly, and not change the quality and quantity. When the quantity has been changed, it means I have to buy more of the same product, so I’m not actually saving any money. When they make a product cheaper, I will not buy that product again, and that company just lost a customer.

The privilege of living in California! Well worth over paying for. I’m sure every regular Claycord commentor will disagree with me, but you’re all still here. Despite prices, politics, homeless, or personal safety issues, you haven’t left yet. Clearly this amazing state has something that keeps you all here.
The weather, further south hotter further north colder. And probably coastal air feels better than dry inland. But why leave if the higher prices are the results of scoundrels trying to try people away. Fight back instead. Time to take a stand.
The weak lack courage, and will run away from their problems. A person who loves, and supports their community will stay and defend it for what they believe in.
Seems like we are overpaying for everything. I agree with Rollo on tipping but on nothing else.

20% interest on credit cards! Thank you crazy uncle joe biden.
The (p)resident of the White House doesn’t deserve to be capitalized.
Pay off your credit cards each month so you don’t get charged interest. I a 2 credit cards, plus my Macy’s card (that is how I get my employee discount) I don’t think I have paid more in interest than $50.00 or so in the past five years. I bought a mattress from Macy’s in January of 2020, I did split the payments over 2 or 3 months. Basically if I can’t pay for it up front I don’t buy it, Wasn’t always the case, but I learned my lesson,

One time when my mom was sick, my dad attended a fundraiser alone and had instructions from mom to bid on a German Chocolate cake that she knew was going to be auctioned. Well, he ended up getting that cake for $135.00. Like you said, a good cause. 🙂

I’m not “cheap” but I am frugal, I don’t like paying for anything that seems overpriced. That being said, I wouldn’t mind paying a little extra for a perfectly ripe cantaloupe or watermelon. Since I couldn’t grow tomatoes this year a perfectly ripe store bought tomato or avocado I don’t mind paying a little extra.

A really good shop with mechanics who know how to rebuild engines from the 60’s & 70’s
(I am open to recommendations).
@ANCIENT MARINER….I’ve got 27 years on the rebuild for my small block Mopar they did, did a valve job on it about 10 years ago and a new timing chain a year ago and it still runs like a top.

@ANCIENT MARINER….I don’t think they have mechanics as such, it’s a machine shop not a garage. They are an excellent one though. I’m in the same boat as you looking for a old school knowledgeable mechanic. Hard for me to handle turning my vehicles over to someone to work on.

Health coverage if it were good.
Now more than before, medical front desk employees are rude (attitude) and unwilling to help patients. Doctors aren’t far behind. Many people feel uncomfortable and overwhelmed when sick and going to a medical practice where patients get patronized adds to the stress.
So, the cost of medical “care” is too high now but if it were about healing, good beside manners from both front desk and doctors, and keeping patients healthy, perhaps paying more for it would be worth it.

If it is something I really want I will pay the regular price. I rarely buy clothes, handbags etc. that is not on sale, since sooner or later it usually goes on sale. I use to be willing to pay a fairly hefty price for a good hair cut. I have very short hair and not everyone can cut short hair well. However, right now I go to someone reasonable, I go a little more often, but it’s close to where I live and I don’t need an appointment. For awhile I was going to Parish Beauty School on Willow Pass, and most of the time I got a good hair cut, I would get compliments on it, and people were always surprised when I told them where I got it cut and what I paid for it. For years I had a hair dresser in the City, and he was a little pricey, but worth it. I started going to him when I lived in the City and continued when I moved first to Marin, then Foster City and Benicia. He retired about 15 years ago, so I had to find someone else.

I would never overpay for anything. If it doesn’t seem like a fair deal, then I’m walking away. Anybody that pays a markup for an automobile or expensive cell phones or any tip above 10% is throwing money away. The only place where price is no object is where guns and ammo are concerned. I will always pay the going rate for something that I may have to stake my life on someday.
