Diablo Valley College Faculty Member Charged With Human Trafficking

A Diablo Valley College faculty member and track coach has been charged with human trafficking, pimping and other offenses for allegedly making two female victims commit crimes of prostitution, the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.

Kyle Lee Whitmore, a 39-year-old Crockett resident, was arrested last Thursday after one of the victims reported the case to authorities at DVC, a community college based in Pleasant Hill, prosecutors said.

Investigators identified a second victim and Whitmore was taken into custody. He was charged Monday and was set for arraignment Tuesday afternoon in Martinez.

A spokesperson for the Contra Costa Community College District, which oversees DVC, said in a statement that some of the offenses involved a student at the school and that Whitmore — a tenured communications faculty member and former coach — was placed on administrative leave following his arrest.

“The District is grateful to staff who, through proper training, were able to identify a serious situation and quickly report it to our Police Services, who subsequently communicated with the Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney,” the community college district’s statement said.

“The District is devastated by the seriousness of the allegations that have been raised thus far. The safety of our students and staff is our main priority. We take seriously any accusations of inappropriate behavior by our employees and honor the expectation that our students, staff, and visitors have to be safe when they visit our campuses,” the statement said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office investigation division at (925) 313-2600. People wanting to report human trafficking cases in the county can call a District Attorney’s Office hotline at (925) 957-8658 or a national hotline at 211.

Human trafficking seems to be prevalent among ethnic minorities including African Americans. Over the past couple of years, arrests of people have occured from Russia, Belarus, Latvia, Serbia, Korea, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Nigeria, Mexico, El Salvador, and Honduras.
.
Why is that?
.

Because of global warming?

Well, that’s why all these foreigners all want to come to the US.

And then a bunch of affluent white men pay for the services. Supply and Demand.

“You mean a bunch of affluent men pay for the services” your bigotry is showing…

No bigotry. The number show that it is white men who do it and who consume it. In the majority I should say.

What number exactly and provide it or your point is BS pure & simple. There is no proof behind Jessica’s comment just a Karen opinion.

Not surprising behavior

Chat fight !!! Chat fight !!! … that’s what we need … more fighting … more division … more petty bickering and back-biting … gid forbid we all get along … as the late great Rodney King once uttered … “Can’t we all just get along …??? …”

What about Pimps, who are the original sex trafficking of women? The majority of them were Black and so proud of their profession had Balls in the City and Vegas dressed in their finest suits and made money by selling tickets for all races to attend the gala and partake in the debauchery.

They come from low economic communities or countries with longstanding instability.

If you controlled for those factors, it would be obvious that ethnicity isn’t the impetus.

.
Then the US foreign policy should be to assist those countries to improve their economy and social conditions so their citizens stay put.
.

In many cases, US foreign policy is responsible for the destabilization of these countries.

Remember when Hilary cackled about assassinating Libyan president Gaddafi. Now Libya is a shell of its former self. Even NATO had to distance itself from that one.

Next country destabilized: Ukraine

I wonder if he was the pimp running the two working at Wence’s last Friday.
Management need to clean this up before I go back!

Pimping is big business. And it’s gonna keep on going on until someone turns out the lights on this planet.

I’m curious as to know, how long did this “man” worked at DVC?
DVC isn’t the only institution where predators have worked. CSUs have had similar issues. Professors were “disciplined”.

A pay check and a couple sneezes in the hallway is about all it takes to get Tenure. That needs to change. It should not take a major crime to get rid of scum on taxpayer payroll. . .. and Management usually has ‘some idea’ that they are dealing with scum. They just choose to take the easy road by not seeing it.

@NO EXCUSES
Agreed! But, not only that, they should also be barred from teaching in any part of the country and its territories; but, they seem to just shuffle them around throughout the country.

If you want to make a direct impact on local child trafficking, visit New Day for Children and make a donation. They have a fundraiser this Saturday in Walnut Creek at the Shadelands Ranch Museum on Ygnacio.

DVC is a great asset to our community and excellent preparation for university while saving thousands of dollars for the first two years of college. Don’t let this one bad apple deter you from sending your high school graduate there. I’m sick to see this, but I’m glad they caught him and I hope he will get whatever punishment he deserves.

Kind of interesting that not one person above has stood up for the guy. That says a lot about him right there. Usually there is at least one neighbor, student, peer who says he’s a good guy. Not here. Hmmm.

This story, including DVC, was in the NY paper this morning. Now the nation knows DVC.

If you tried to count the amount of massage parlors in Claycord alone that secretly have prostitution you might run out of fingers. Maybe toes.

Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy!
