The Bay Area Air Quality Management District announced Thursday a new web tool where people can search for all notices of violation that the district has issued in the past five years.
The tool can be found at https://www.baaqmd.gov/rules-and-compliance/compliance-assistance/notices-of-violations/novs-issued for people who may be interested in finding out which facilities in their communities were accusing of violating air quality laws.
People can search by locations, facility names, date ranges, current enforcement status and the amount of the penalty, according to the air district.
For penalties of $100,000 or more, the district also sends out public announcements.
“As part of our commitment to transparency, the air district has developed a new web tool for the public to track notices of violation that have been issued for facilities in their communities,” said air district executive officer Philip Fine. “The air district is committed to vigorously enforcing air quality regulations to protect the health of all Bay Area residents.”
Trying to show their ‘value’, we have the EPA, we don’t need BAAQMD. I use purpleair.com to check the air quality myself. Let’s disband the agency and use the money to fix some roads.
Looked up this site. Just businesses hassled. No fines for people burning trash in their fireplaces As someone who works in industrial facilities I can tell you there is far more air pollution from home items such as fireplaces and leaf blowers. The BAAQMD only shakes down those who can’t vote
I don’t see the need for this. I’d much rather see focus I’m stomping down on crime and criminals and exposing them, and exposing the DA’s and judges that keeps bringing the criminals back on us.! That’s our main threat in life now, not some excess smoke from a business or a person’s fireplace or barbecu or lawn mower
Many far more important issues need attention and resources then this . Get in the back of the line BAAQMD
Turning in your neighbors now? Lets not go down that road.
I thought the same thing, a snitch line and shame a neighbor.
Shut down airports once a month for a week. You will see a great improvement in air quality. Ground DC politicians. Twice a month would not be a hardship.
We had amazingly clear skies for a week or so after 9/11. I’m not sure how much of that was from no aircraft traffic vs. that people also took a pause from driving around. Presumably the same thing happened at the start of the COVID-19 lockdown.
WC Resident: I noticed the same. The quiet was nice too.
Outlaw carbon spewing private jets.
