The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office has identified the name of a person killed in a two-car crash on eastbound state Highway 4 early Thursday.

Severo Duran, 26, of Pacheco, was killed in the crash reported shortly before 2 a.m. Thursday on eastbound Highway 4 near San Marco Boulevard near Bay Point.

CHP investigators said a Honda Pilot hit a Jeep Cherokee that was stopped along the center divider after being involved in a prior collision.

Duran, the Jeep driver, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Honda driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, CHP officials said.

I always considered him my nephew he always show great respect for me may he be blessed and resting in peace he’ll be miss going too soon….

Highway 4 is an extremely dangerous highway. In my almost 31 years as a Paramedic in this county we went to countless accidents on that road. I’ll try to avoid it as much as possible.

One night back in 1984ish, we were walking over Baily from Concord to the Burg … coming down on the Burg side was a flipped car, horn blarring, lights beaming onto the hillside …
Hole in the windshield … blood spray .
… we looked around and found nothing … like 9pm … hour later we were driving back to Concord … cops, fire dept combing the hills and stream with flashlights and dogs … surreal scene … the next night at work (I was clerk/stock boy at John’s Imported Liquor) two EMTs came in … of course I asked them … they found a headless body 100 yards up on the hill … and the head another 50 yards from the body. That one got to me.

RIP my little brother!!! I can’t find the right words because I’m still in shock! You were an angel in your short time on this earth and now you have your heavenly wings 🪽 to be angel from up above…You will always be in our hearts!!!🙏🏾 ❤️ 🪽

My heart felt prayers goes out to Severo’s mother Andrea, his brother James, his grandmother Barbara, his uncle’s & aunts, and the entire family. I’m remembering your son from a happy smiling little kid living next door to my sister on Porter playing outdoors with her kids and my kids running back and forth from his house to her house, and then seeing him all grown up as a young man it breaks my heart that his life was cut so short by this horrible accident. You all are such a loving close family and he will be missed but never ever forgotten by all who knew him and loved him dearly. As you said we’re like family and my condolence, love, and support goes out to you all at this very very sad and unbelievable time. 🫶🏾🙏🏾😞

May you stay in peaceful prayer mode. Keeping your family together will bind you eternally. I am so sorry for your loss. Heaven is a place where your son Severo shall live for eternity. Know that he is with others that have been waiting for him.
