As 2020 De La Salle graduate Kyle Harrison prepared to make his Major League home debut, there was no telling how the extra adrenaline was going to affect him. This was, after all, a very big deal for him. He was taking the mound at the very ballpark that helped shape his earliest baseball fandom, 30 miles away from the city where he grew up.
It took only a few minutes to find out how Harrison, a product of Concord, would harness this extra wave of emotion.

Watched it and his family that was great.
That was an awesome performance.
I watched the whole game, except for the little bits we all naturally miss whilst taking a whiz or fetching another beer.
Congratulations Kyle!
Saw it … masterful #GoSpartans
Who cares about a bunch of overpaid primadonnas aka professional athletes…
I’m old enough to remember a time when if someone did well on a national stage then everyone from that community feels a sense of pride.
I guess I’m just a foolish old fogie for thinking such sentiments might still exist.
Have a nice day.
Bravo Barbosa, well said. Thank you.
@ barbosa
I’m old enough to remember when those who played did it for the love of the sport. Unfortunately nowadays, egos and money have taken over the mindset of a majority of professional athletes. Therefore I no longer watch nor support professional sports. I stand by my morals and ethics!!!
💕⚾️ Love to see local young men and women do well. Go get ’em Kyle. Keep it up. We need that spot!
Point taken, but boy oh boy … nothing like a day at the yard … anybody recall $2 Tuesdays at the Coliseum, and Crazy George, super cold days at Candlstick? When I was living in Murrieta, we would take the kids to the AAA park in Elsinore … and going back ever further in Houston, watching Oilers and Astros games at the Astrodome … and Gordie Howe hockey legend at the Summit arena. Sports amature or professional … great … I am trying to get to Q School next year for Senior Asia PGA Tour … wish me luck … got my 6-iron back to 200+ … before my motorbike accident, had that club carrying 230 … not bad for an old chunk of coal like me.
Hardly Concord’s…, quite a stretch. He grew up in privileged Danville but went to De La Salle for their sports program. Definitely NOT home grown. With that said, the kid is the next Tim Lincecum!
