Arrest Made In Highway 24 Shooting Investigation

Authorities investigating a freeway shooting that happened last month on Highway 24 arrested the suspected shooter this week, along with five other people at his Vallejo apartment who are suspected in numerous robberies and stolen vehicles.

Damari Calvin, 24, was arrested Tuesday by the California Highway Patrol for his suspected involvement in a shooting on Highway 24 near Pleasant Hill Road.

The CHP responded about 11 a.m. on July 26 to reports of shots fired on the westbound side of the freeway. While they were on the way, reports came in to 911 about two cars near the Central Lafayette off-ramp that may have been involved in a shooting.

As the vehicles were slowing down, one of them collided with an uninvolved vehicle that was also exiting the freeway.

The occupants of both involved vehicles subsequently fled the scene. The occupants of the uninvolved vehicle were not injured.

An investigation identified Calvin as a suspect in the shooting, and a warrant was obtained for his arrest.

When a search and arrest warrant was served on Calvin at his Vallejo apartment on Tuesday morning, five other people who were there were detained and later arrested in connection with a separate investigation into numerous robberies and stolen vehicles.

A search of the apartment lead to the discovery of numerous illegal firearms, including two ghost gun assault rifles, high-capacity magazines, and a stolen vehicle.

Following his arrest, Calvin was booked into Contra Costa County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, discharging a firearm at an occupied vehicle, and assault with a firearm.

It’s interesting that Damari has ignored CA’s strict gun control laws.

What laws lol? Anyone who isn’t a felon can get a gun legally in 10 days. Because of this anyone with cash can get one today on the streets. Our gun laws are super minimal to an outsider looking in

Please don’t tell me, Schmee, that you are one of those who believe that if we ban all guns then no one will have them.

Trust me, the Damari’s of the world will always have guns, no matter what laws we pass.

@Schmee,
“Anyone who isn’t a felon can get a gun legally in 10 days.” Wrong again.

Prohibited from receiving or possessing a firearm under Federal law:
-Fugitive from justice;
-Unlawful user (under federal law) or addicted to marijuana or any other controlled substance;
-Adjudicated mentally defective or ever committed to a mental institution;
-Dishonorably discharged from Armed Forces;
-Subject to a restraining order;
-Convicted in any court of MISDEMEANOR domestic violence;
-Illegal alien

A few other things as well, but the point is made. Don’t ever let actual facts get in the way of your uninformed opinion.

This POS has been arrested many times prior to this incident. Why was he not in jail to begin with? The public officials, from judges, district attorneys, law enforcement, city council members and many others are failing to protect the law abiding citizens. When will this lunacy politics end. Even his arrest report does not mention his race. Its listed as NON-HISPANIC. At least Sacramento county wasn’t afraid to list his race. While I understand POS peolpe come in all colors, just call it as it is.

Looks like enough for minimum of twenty years. Just doesn’t make sense for him to be on the outside. The pendulum is to the far left. It has to be stopped on common sense.

Damari from Vallejo… why no pictures? oh… that’s right …. why wasn’t he in for a long time already… oh that’s right…. Becton ….when will we get any real leadership?

Just look at his FB page, ignorance at its finest. I bet his parents are very proud… Parents is probably an exaggeration though. https://m.facebook.com/profile.php/?id=100002256370006&name=xhp_nt__fb__action__open_user

Vallejo is Solano County. Did he do all his crimes in Contra Costa? Not familiar with the politics of the Solano DA.

.
Cuz bro knows Becton does “restorative justice”.
.
Sheeeeet!

What are “ghost gun assault rifles” You cant 3D print a whole rifle, there is metal lathe work involved.
Do they mean an “Assault Rifle” modified with printed parts? Which Parts? Why so obtuse?
Where those Buzzwords inserted to rile people up, or to foment Anti-gun sentiment.

“Where those Buzzwords inserted to rile people up, or to foment Anti-gun sentiment.”

Yes, they were.
