The Hwy 24, 580, 80 interchange going westbound to the Bay Bridge. It is always a mess. The 242, Hwy 4 eastbound during commute times gets (dis)honorable mention.
.
Thats easy.. Interstate 680 & Hwy 24 in Walnut Creek.
.
I avoid it at commute times. It’s horrendous because, in addition to the commute volume, drivers dont know how merge!
.
The drivers who can’t be bothered to use their directional signal lights cause havoc on all roads, especially on the busiest ones.

I don’t drive all of them, but the one I don’t like is coming off 580 West to 680 North. It seems like it’s about 20 years out of date. They need a 2 lane flyover.
Super dangerous. Cars slowing down and stopping to merge north with cars coming up behind them doing 60+. I remember reading it was one of the most dangerous intersections in the state.

Hwy 4 & 680…. old style cloverleafs were fine with light traffic – more of a hazard in heavier CCC traffic now… and CalTrans had the opportunity to revise / rebuild it when redoing Hwy 4 nearby… but did they? nooooooooooo
@DOMO….But my old Mopar 4-wheel drifts on that cloverleaf so well, 50+ years of practice, 55/60 mph is just fast enough to hang the tail out merging onto the highway. Best done “in the midnight hour” -The Wicked Pickett
Yes. 680 S merging at the clover onto HWY 4. Inexperienced mergers, big trucks, bunching up. Then more merging 50 feet up. 680 N onto HWY 4 east towards Port Chicaco then Pittsburg.

I hate the 680 North to the Highway 4 West. To get off the 680 you’ve got your thread your way through people merching on to the 680, then to merge onto the 4 you got your threadway your way across to people merging off of the 4 to the 680…all after a very tight turn that calls to go slower then instantly you have to be up at freeway speed.
I always shift left 1 lane to avoid it; 2 lanes during rush hour. Too many want to merge at last moment.

580 East towards Stockton coming off 680 South. Have to merge on to 580 East quickly or get run over by the truckers before the roadway runs out.

It’s no problem if you know how to merge.
.
…. Accelerate!!!
How about the Pacheco Blvd. onramp to 680 South? Short merge and there’s always a big rig going 70mph… just drive on the shoulder I guess.
The one pictured and all the mess around it has sure gotta be a contender….
I’d say it’s a 25 way tie
Only hit a couple but when you turn off of 24 on to 680 north the traffic is really slow on 680.
All of them
Treat off ramp Walnut creek, backs it up like a toilet on a holiday.
