Dutch Bros., located at 3455 Alhambra Ave. in Martinez, is opening this week.
We got the news from our friend Matt Bender, who also took the photos shown above.
“Dutch Bros grand opening is on August 18th. They’ve been doing training for the past week, which is why the parking lot has been filled by employee cars even past 7PM. Location is drive-thru only with a walk-up window for outdoor seating area.”
Thanks for the news, Matt!
In case you’re wondering, the Clayton Rd. Dutch Bros. is still under construction.
I heard they cook their coffee in a Dutch oven.
For those who think that they don’t have just “straight up” coffee, DB makes an amazing cold brew, and their espresso is pretty good, too.
Been waiting for the Concord one to open, but this one is opening right in time for my birthday weekend! 😊👍🏼
I always confuse them with Dutch Boy, the paint company. It does not help that the coffee company logo looks like a paint brush laying out a rainbow of colors.
FWIW, the Dutch Boy logo is an Irish-American boy who was living in New York near the artist that created the logo for Dutch Boy paint company.
Lucky Martinez. The 3 where I live are always busy and they are great community partners when it comes to supporting schools and other nonprofits in town.
.
Dutch? I hope they speak English.
.
They speak English, but they wear wooden shoes.
Good model, don’t allow people inside the building. They know the general public can’t be trusted inside and it keeps the employees safer. Remember when a coffee place was somewhere you sent to meet with friends, hang out, meet people….
You mean I can’t just run in and steal all their merchanise? Even starbucks now has their cups for sale in a locked container (where I work in Hayward). Sad times! … but.. DB is good coffee! They are very supportive of local community and pro police . Not that dirty sock filtered Starbucks crap!
In case you’re wondering, I don’t drink coffee and I save tons of money!!!
Thanks for using my pictures! Should’ve seen how crazy their friends and family day was yesterday.. I was told when I was there on Monday by the regional operator himself that their hours will be every day 5am-10pm and Friday & Saturday open till 11pm, for those wondering.
I remember somebody mentioning when this topic was discussed earlier…
.
So, I’m sure you can, but….
.
I looked at the menu online…. They don’t list just a cup of coffee….
Yeah, it’s mainly “desert drinks” and will be popular with the HS kids plus those are also popular at other places like Starbucks. I don’t do well on those super sugary drinks. The “real coffee” place is south a block across from Walgreens, Mountain Grounds. They have a great roast.
Correction: “dessert drinks” not “desert drinks” though one might argue that cold drinks are for the desert. Weirdness of English spelling (if you can call it “spelling”). Also looked at the menu and they do offer “Americanos” both hot and cold. The history of the Americano is that GIs in Italy during the war requested a cup of coffee and the shops only had espresso machines so they put of espresso shots in a cup and added hot water which worked. Also noting they offer cold brew and nitro cold brew coffee.
Worst location, good luck to Alhambra Ave traffic with the 20+ car lines that are typical at locations.
I don’t recall Wendy’s, which was there before, causing a problem with traffic. You can’t tell from the picture but there is a spacious parking lot and easy entrance.
Have you seen a Dutch Bro drive thru? All I have seen have almost 30 min wait and backed up crazy. Wendy’s does not compare to Dutch, it’s a tiny lot. Great coffee but horrible location!
I drove past this morning and there indeed was a backup but not into the street because there has always been a inlet there for cars going into the lot and they had someone managing that traffic. Indeed the line snaked around the lot. But that is to be expected with something new.
Dutch Bros. is no longer a coffee joint like in the old days. In 2023, 99.9% of their sales are blended fruity drinks. I don’t like Dutch because they are extremely aggressive in asking for TIP. And they encourage you to use APPLE-PAY so they ask for tip electronically. One time I paid in cash and it threw them for a loop, they had to think about how to open the cash register. And 90% of their business is drive-thru, not walk-up. You cannot go inside, there is no sitdown. It’s like the old Caffino but bigger.
You can get anything g at Dutch Bros SUGAR FREE, which you CAN’T get at Starbucks. Diabetics can now enjoy a frapachino type drink without sugar. Can’t wait. Love the two in Oakley/Brentwood.
Dutch Bros. is 1000% times more aggressive in PRESSURING you for a TIP than Starbucks. Dutch seems to be competing directly against Jamba Juice. $7 Fruit Smoothies vs. $7 Fruit Smoothies. They DO NOT offer house coffee, espresso, cappucino, etc. No hot coffee drinks available. Dutch Bros. is not a coffee chain. It is a smoothie chain. Everything there originates from a powder or concentrate, nothing fresh.
