Contra Costa County Public Works will begin construction on the Grayson Creek Desilt Project on Monday, August 14, 2023, through Tuesday, October 31, 2023.

Work will occur between 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (excluding holidays), weather permitting.

Drivers should expect delays near Imhoff Drive and along Pacheco Boulevard and Contra Costa Boulevard between Highway 680 and Chilpancingo Parkway during construction.

The work consists of removing approximately 25,000 cubic yards of silt in the Grayson Creek Channel to restore creek flow capacity.

I hope homeless encampments are considered “silt”

The homeless can only be removed if they identify as silt. However, to use Florida’s über woke, word salad model, we would have to ignore attempts to identify as gray silt, brown silt, white silt, black silt or other colors, regardless if your desire or affinity for or of silt of the same or other colors. As there are no colors or classes of silt, concepts such as racism or discrimination against silts can’t be possible, and thus don’t need to be mentioned or studied.

Were the neighbors consulted for wherever the silt will be dumped? 25,000 cubic yards is a pile that’s roughly 29 by 29 feet and is 30 feet high.

The creek became very full at times this past winter. Without this cleanout, the expected el nino weather pattern and a few atmospheric rivers could cause significant flooding along Pacheco Blvid this winter. I’m glad to hear they’re getting it done now.

Cool. It appears nearly choked off my reeds and such.

But wouldn’t this article been better off posted BEFORE the beginning of construction rather than at the start of the work?

Where are they putting the 25,000 cubic yards of silt?

The silt is pumped into bags that will filter out the water, what’s left over can be used for landscaping.

Thanks for that info I was thinking I mean it’s not too contaminated you think it’d be a pretty rich soil.

We used to ride our bikes to kmart, buy an inflatable boat and ride it down that creek, ditch it and walk back. Back in early 80s you could stash your bike and it would still be there when you got back…

Remove the homeless. They are more of a threat then flooding lol. Such small minded government doesn’t see the threat right in front of their eyes. Allowing homeless rats to roam everywhere degrades our country. Period.
