High temperatures caused BART trains to run at slower speeds between Orinda and Pittsburg/Bay Point stations from Sunday afternoon into the evening, announced transportation officials.
Riders were advised to consider adding 10 minutes to their planned travel time to factor weather-related delays.
Here we go again. At what temperature will they speed up ?
Why does it matter? No one who values their safety rides it anyway.
BS……this is about the GRID. BNSF, UP and Amtrak are all running at Regular speeds.
@Anon
I’m not standing up for BARF, but, Amtrak is frequently late.
Hope one day we could have efficient, reliable, and most of all, a safe public transportation system like they do in Europe.
Amtrak is always late. The point was NO Class 1 railroad is under a “slow order” or reduced speed due to heat. I listen to a scanner and frequent Trainorders.
This is simply about Not overloading the GRID.
Amen
Wait until there are Millions more EV’s Then watch out!!!
.
Is heat-affected BART train speed during warm weather a relatively “new” phenomenon or policy?
.
I mean, were trains slowed down say 15 or 20 years ago? Warm temperatures are not new.
.
What changed?
.
Are there fewer rail expansion joints? Different metallurgy of the steel wheels or tracks?
.
And you think the high speed rail will be any better?
Nope – 20 mph between Madeira and Fresno at a cost of $200 million.
Thanks to the democrat politicians and the idiots that voted for them.
