Construction Alert – Citywide Traffic System Upgrade Project
The City will be performing work for the Citywide Traffic System Upgrade Project this week at three locations. The locations and days of work are as follows:
• Tuesday 8/1: Willow Pass Rd. at Port Chicago Hwy.
• Wednesday 8/2: Willow Pass Rd. at Mt. Diablo St.
• Thursday night 8/3 from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.: Treat Blvd. at Oak Grove Rd.
The work during the day, if not noted as night work, will result in traffic signals being turned off or on flash between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
For your safety, and the safety of others, please use caution and observe all construction signage when approaching the intersection.
Your patience is appreciated as these improvements are underway.
Brought to you by Concord’s traffic engineers – those who graduated at the bottom of their class!
You really believe they graduated from some kind of school or training program? Not a city commute goes by where a green light for me goes red, even though there isn’t a car or pedestrian crossing the intersection. I’m talking 6 AM! I’ve called Public Works numerous times to adjust the light controllers, but nothing gets corrected. Have you driven Cowell Road? The light at Babel will accommodate Babel traffic to Cowell instantaneously, but if you try to get on Cowell at Coventry, bring a good book – that light is interminable. I can’t wait to see how these “upgrade” further bog down traffic.
If they’re upgrading control cabinet with new PLC would be interesting to watch.
Funny thing, if ALL wires bare not labeled and a Xcel spread sheet detailing each part of circuits, once you’ve disconnected a bunch it’s too late to figure things out.
So specifically – what is the upgrade? How will traffic flow be improved? How much is it costing? (the old cost / benefit question)
