Most gentle and friendly cat we’ve ever had was a shelter cat who adopted us.

@ORIGINAL G….The most affectionate cat I ever had was a big black one-eyed, half an ear, beat up skinny house cat that wandered into my yard that someone had abandoned. That was about 16 years ago and she just passed last year. She was at least 20 years old. She was a ruffian and fought all the feral cats away. Before that a one year old feral cat I coerced to be friendly took his place in my “tribe” at the time, he knew when to run away from a fight. He’s 20 years old at least now. I named him “Stinky” as he ate out of the dumpster and was most flatulent. Of course he’s the one that always wanted to snuggle up, it took a long time for him to stop prowling in the dumpster. You can take the cat out of the dumpster but not the dumpster out of the cat I guess.

This time was adopted by feral from where I worked. Had one mechanic in shop throwing 1″ diameter bolts whenever he saw her. Took three weeks of food coaxing before she’d jump up in my lap. Ended up bringing her home about ten years ago. Am only one in the house Grumpy doesn’t hiss at or run away from. Important thing is she has a better life than when she was younger.

We got our 2 cats from co co shelter they are our most beloved family members

Claycord… Why don’t you have the pet adoption ad anymore from the CCC shelter ? One of my cats came from see it.

Seeing….Spell check

32 cats? Nobody needs that many cats. Besides, I’m sure their carbon footprint is huge. The amount of emissions must be causing a hole in the ozone layer and warming up the planet. There can only be one solution.

@XJ….Now that’s a tribe!

The only cat I will ever have in my house would be a Ragdoll from a responsible breeder. I’ve had to shelter cats, and both of them were literally neurotic or had major behavioral problems. I’ve never had that with a cat that was raised up by a responsible breeder.

Those feral cats at the animal shelter, would be good if you had a barn. Just put them in the barn cats and set out a bowl of water and they’ll keep the rodents down. The trick is you got to keep them hungry.

I’d suggest that the mixed cats who were adopted by you may have been excellent judges of character. Whose to say it’s not you who is the problem?
